Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Who: John and Holly
When: Friday while she's stuck
Where: Where the stairs should be!
What: A rescue!

John chuckled to himself as he left the Ravenclaw common room. So Miss Holly Finnigan had gotten herself stuck upstairs, had she? His first plan had been to use some sort of spell to get her down, but after a brief moment of thought a much better, much less mentally tiring solution came to mind. Rather than hovering her down, he would send his broom up to her, and she would be able to ride it down. He felt it the best option.

He finally reached where the stairs should have been. He let his broom rest against the wall as his hands fell into his pockets as he looked up, his usual lopsided smile in place. "Holly?" he called, not spotting her immediately. "You still up there?"

Holly had been pouting and sitting in the door frame with her journal open, waiting for ANYONE to come by! But more specifically John, since he said he'd come rescue her. It felt like she was waiting a long time, when she heard her name being called. So she moved over to the edge and looked down and saw John down there looking for her.

"Yes! Where would I have gone? The stairs are gone!" she said indignantly but she decided that was probably the wrong approach if he was going to get her unstuck. "Sorry... are you going to get me down now?"

Quite frankly, John was surprised no one else had come to save her yet. He was fairly certain there had to be some hormonal fourth year who had seen that message in her journal who would jump at the chance to play her prince charming. He supposed he didn't particularly mind either. Getting on a girl's good side was never a bad thing.

He was caught offguard by her snippiness, but as she apologized he attributed it to stress from the situation and shrugged his shoulders. He mounted his broom, and flew up to her, before hopping off again. "Ready to return to the real world?"

Holly stood up as she watched John come up to the landing, on his broom. Well... that was simple. But Holly didn't have a broom with her, so it wasn't that simple for her. But John was a Ravenclaw... so he had quick thinking on his side, Holly supposed.

"Yes please," she said reaching to pick up her bag and put it over her shoulder. And then she started to think about how he was going to get her down... And she blushed just a little bit. "Do you... want me to get on that with you?"

John hadn't considered the fact that it might be at all suggestive, inappropriate or what have you to have a girl ride down on the broom with him. It was the blush creeping up on her cheeks that made him rethink his solution.

"If it makes you more comfortable you can fly down alone, and I can accio it back," he offered with a small shrug of his shoulders.

It really was stupid to think about it that way. John was being nice enough to come help her get down after all. Besides! Holly was 16 now, not some silly 4th year getting worked up over being around a boy!

"No that's alright. I can just go down with you. I'm just good and fixing brooms, not really controlling them," Holly said as a good excuse and a bit of a smile.

To be quite honest, John didn't know much about Holly. His interest was peaked as she talked about fixing brooms, wondering how she had learned to do such things. Maybe he'd ask her later... after he'd managed to save her from her doom on the third floor.

"Alright then. I'll need you to get on first, and I'll ride behind you if that's okay."

"That's okay," Holly said nodding, and she reached to take a hold of John's broom. Of course she'd been on a broom before, in fact she'd been on a broom with more than one person before. But this was the first time when it wasn't her brother... or something like that. So she got on the broom, and looked over her shoulder at John, waiting for him to mount it too.

Once she was situated, John moved to sit behind her. His arms moved around her to grip the broomstick. "Down we go, then." He lifted them up a bit first, before gently gliding down to the second floor. In a few seconds, the grand rescue was over, and he was dismounting, extending a hand to help her off. "Not so bad, right?"

Holly was definitely blushing when John's arms went around her to hold the broomstick handle. It was silly, of course he'd have to do that if he was going to guide them down. And it didn't take no time to get back to the second floor. She had to stop blushing! Holly took his hand as she dismounted the broom too. "No... not so bad," she said with a light laugh. "Thank you for helping me down, John."

John thought her cheeks looked a bit more pink than usual, but he wasn't going to be the one to call her out on it. He picked up his broom as he released her hand. "I can walk you back, if you like. You know, just in case the school's out to get you."

Holly did appreciate it a great deal that he didn't point out the blush on her face. She pouted a bit though when he released her hand, but he offered to walk with her. That was sweet of him, so she perked up again. "Thank you. That's thinking ahead, so I'd appreciate not getting stuck again," Holly said leading the way to the right stairs to get up to Gryffindor tower.
