WHO. Phoenix Malfoy and Kendra Urquhart
WHAT. A date? SRSLY. Not even WE know.
WHERE. Hogsmeade.
WHEN. Hogsmeade Day.
STATUS. Incomplete / Closed.
RATING. TBA

It was with a feeling of nervous excitement that Phoenix Malfoy stood in front of his mirror that morning. Clean and nice-smelling from his recent long bath, he shrugged on a waist-length fur-lined brown coat over a white shirt and ash trousers and surveyed his appearance. He had an engagement that afternoon, one that he would admit he had never foreseen would happen at all. It was only days ago that he had met her after all. Though what this was exactly remained a mystery to him. A friendly meeting? A date?

Phoenix shook off such distracting thoughts from his mind and returned to fixing hismelf. After hanging his scarf loosely around his neck and putting on a pair of gloves, he pocketed his money bag and made to exit his room. His feet led him to the Main steps where he comfortably settled against the stone banister, the hand carrying the small, tight bouquet of daisies he had brought hidden from those who would come from the castle. The day was cool, quite refreshing, and the passing breeze striied the thin strands of lighthair that crowned his head. Looking up, he started at the cloudy heavens, squinting his eyes as he waited for Kendra to arrive, as planned.

In truth, it is in Phoenix's nature to overthink matters, though he would rather not admit such a thing to Kendra. He elegantly shrugged a shoulder. "You presented an argument. I simply offered my thoughts in the matter." he responded lightly. "Then I must ask: What is your definition of fun, Kendra?"

The waitress returned with his drink; he thanked her generously before he remembered that Kendra wanted hers refilled as well. "Could my companion please have a refill for her drink as well?" Phin watched as the waitress turned to Kendra, took her glass and left them again.

"I see." he said, stirring his butterbeer with his straw. In his periphery, Phoenix saw the waitress returning and just when he was about to turn and thank the woman for her service, he witnessed in complete surprise as the glass tipped over on the tray in her hand, and butterbeer spilling over onto Kendra's lap...

There are some things you just do not expect to happen to you in a restaurant. Needless to say, getting a glass of butterbeer spilled on your lap is one of those.

Kendra let out a cry of surprise, before she stared, wide-eyed at the flirtacious waitress who was staring back looking shocked but, in Kendra's opinion, not nearly as horrified as she should have. "I'm sorry. I don't know what happened."

"I do," Kendra muttered bitterly. "You were so busy staring at my date you dropped a glass of butterbeer on my lap. Can I have another napkin, please?"

Phoenix's light eyes widened- perhaps the first open display of any emotion on his features when Kendra sharply straightened and gave the waitress a piece of her mind. What did not escape his notice however, was the fact what Kendra referred to him as. A date. So the flowers were appropriat then. This simple fact, he found, pleased him, that it was perhaps the reason why he remained so calm.

He stood, taking the napkin already on his lap and moved to stand beside Kendra. He placed a hand lightly on her back and gently ushered her to the washing area, but not before he spared teh waitress a glance that was far too sharp for his usually serene expression. One they had arrive by the sink, Phoenix opened the faucet and soaked his napkin with water. He was about to help clean up the stain on Kendra's lap, when he caugth himself and stopped, looked up and asked: "May I?" He then offered the moist napkin to her. "Or would you rather do it?"

To be perfectly honest, Kendra hadn't even realized she had called Phoenix her date, and probably would not realize it until much, much later where she could be mortified of her assumption-making in private. At the present moment, she was far too busy being irritated with the waitress and her ruined clothes to think of what she had or hadn't said.

Muttering under her breath about not tipping, Kendra allowed herself to be ushered away, which was probably in the girl's best interest as she would have only gotten angrier with time. She had settled herself on the counter of the washroom, a dark look about her that clearly showed she was going through a list of inappropriate words she could call the waitress, when Phin's voice startled her out of her angry thoughts.

She glanced down at the napkin in his hands, cheeks heating slightly as he offered to wash her off. "Er, yeah. Tat's fine." She had jeans on, after all, and it wasn't as if there was anything hot about having her legs cleaned off by a... really... attractive guy who... was entirely too respectful and charming for his own good. Right. Nothing hot at all.

At her consent, Phoenix nodded and slowly started dabbing the wet area where the butter had spilled on her jeans, carefully soaking the fabric with water to clean the stain. He did this for quite some time, a mask of concentration on his features. After a second, he took the dry side of his towel and dabbed it over the material again.

When he was done, he straightened and folded the towel in his hands, leaving it by the sink after. "I suppose that will keep it from leaving a stain." His eyes lifted to hers then. "What do you say we finish our lunch and not let this small slip ruin our..." Date "...afternoon?" he asked, smiling to himself, before he gestured to his side towards their table, asking her to walk before him...

Kendra laughed softly, in disbelief that Phoenix had not already considered the afternoon ruined. Then again, she supposed he hadn't been the one to get a cup full of butterbeer in his lap. Still, if he remained in a pleasant mood, he could certainly rub off on her and manage to salvage the rest of the Hogsmeade trip. "I'd like that," she answered with a small smile, before leading the way back to their table to finish their date meal.
