WHO: Nymphadora and Jackson
WHEN: Break.
WHERE: Diagon Alley. The Weasley's SHop.
WHAT: A chance encounter?
RATING: tba...
STATUS: Closed / In Progress

It was a fairly hot day in Diagon Alley. Tragically, this simple fact was magnified somehow inside the Weasley's store, particularly in the counter where on Nymphadora sat. She even believed it was possible that all the heat in the room was solely concentrated on her side of the room, and no where else. Bright sunlight filled the room from the window to her side, her hair- this season bright Weasley red- standing out astoundingly against her old black graphic shirt. She was stacking and restacking the boxes displayed by the register, forming a castle before she brings them down form a pyramid. Nymphadora was never one who stayed bored for long, for he could always find something to do, or someone to bother. Really, approaching the customers when they're deciding for their purchases wasn't necessary, but she does it anyway to entertain herself.

At the moment, however, the store was empty except for her. It did not come as a surprise for her. It was around 3 in the afternoon, a dead time in their day. More customers arrive in the evenings anyway. Dora checked the clock in the corner . Her shift was almost done, and she wondered distantly what she could do to make time fly by faster..

It was a hot day, and Jackson wished that he'd picked a different day to get some shopping done. But, he was there, and he had things to do before he started to shop, anyway, so he might as well make the best of it. He was there for the whole day, so he had plenty of time. He made a beeline for the Weasley's shop, hoping that either Addy or Dora would be in, and he wasn't disappointed. Only, it was Dora and Addy wasn't around, so he felt a little awkward. Addy was the only person that knew he had a thing for Dora, but he couldn't walk out now, so he put a smile on and walked over to the counter.

"Hey Dora!" he said, smiling, leaning on the counter, looking around the shop. "Dead right now, huh?" he asked, noticing that no one else was in the shop. "Having a good summer so far?" he asked, looking back to her after staring at a few of the displays for a little bit. He was still amazed that it was summer and that they'd be starting their last year at Hogwart soon.

A loud ring signalled someone had entered the store. Dora rose from her seat and craned her neck to see who had come in and was glad when she saw the familiar face of her sister's best friend. "Jackson! Hi!" Practically bouncing, she waved enthusiastically at him, flashing him a most charming smile. Then at his keen observation, her eyes quickly scanned the room before they returned to him. "Yeah, pretty dead. At least it's not so much now." she said, gesturing to him. A subtle laugh escaped her, as she leaned on the counter in front of him. Strangely enough, Dora has always felt easy around Jackson even though they hardly exchanged words. She reckoned she could owe it to the fact that she's her twin's best friend. "And yeah, I have, thanks! I've spent most of my days either in the Ottery St. Catchpole, or here looking after the shop, taking turns with Addy..." Then she realized something- he might be visiting her! "Oh! Addy! You're probably looking for her, huh? She's not here though, I'm sorry." A small frown grazed her features, her lips pouting in the slightest. "I don't know where she is..."

"How have you been?" Dora asked a second after. "You look well!"

He waved back at her, smiling from ear to ear. He really was glad to see her. And he could tell it was her, too, thanks to her hair color. Dora kept the dark hair and Addy's was blonde. "Does it pick up later in the day?" he asked, raising an eyebrow at her. A lot of shops didn't really have too many people in them during this time of the day, it was understandable. Especially with this kind of heating coming down on them. "Nah, I was looking for either one of you, actually. I was gonna do some shopping and looking around today, thought one of you might be here, so I stopped in," he said smiling at her, still trying to pluck up the courage to ask what he was going to ask Addy if she had been in. "Wanna go with me when you get off?" he asked, proud of himself for actually getting it out. "I mean, only if you want. You probably wanna chill at home for a while or something."

"I've been good! And you? How is your break going so far?"

"It does!" Nymphadora told him. "I can't blame them for not wanting to come in. It feels like a sauna in here!" she fanned herself for emphasis, her face animated as she spoke. "Aw, that's sweet of you. I wish Addy were here to see you. I think that would have made her happy..."

Then out fo the blue, he asked her to accompany him later that day. This surprised her, though she concealed her emotions well, her expression turning thoughtful. She's never really hung out with him- with just the two of them- but he was such a cool, fun guy, plus he's her sister's best friend. How could she decline? "Sure! I'd love to." she said, her tone reflecting her excitement. "Actually, I think I can ask my dad if I could leave earlier. Stay here for a sec, yeah? Make your self... at home... or something." Laughter followed her as she made her way to the backroom, then up a few stairs to where her father was. Asking permission to leave was easy enough and her father agreed with very little hesitation, so she was able to return to Jackson without trouble. She retrived her jacket from under the counter, shook it to make sure her coins were still in the pockets where she left them, before making her way towards Jackson. Giggling, she offered her arm for him to take. "Shall we?" A grin.

He nodded, wiping his brow. "Yeah, it is pretty hot in here. Almost as much as it is outside. But at least it's breezy out there," he said with a shrug. "Always next time, right? I'll be around a lot this summer. Maybe I'll catch her next time," he said with a grin. He would love to see his best friend. This being away from each other thing wasn't any fun at all, and he did wish she'd been there, so then they could all three go and hang out. But he was being brave and asking Dora. All by herself. He was actually quite proud of himself. He'd not even blushed too much!

He nodded, laughing, watching her run away to ask her dad if she could leave. When she came back, he was still at the counter, still smiling. He took her arm without too much hesitation and nodded. "Yeah, lets!"

After he had hooked his arm securely around hers, Nymphadora led their way towards the shop entrance, practically skipping as the pair walked through the door and into the open streeet. He was right, she realized. The breeze that brushed against her cheeks was warm, but humid, a refreshing change from the stiffling dry heat on the store's interior. "OH! I know what would be perfect for a day like this!" she announced, pulling him after her then as she navigted her way through Diagon. Having lived here all her life, she knew every store in the vicinity and where they are located- even those in Knockturn though she seldome admits to it.

Not even five minutes after, Nymphadora stopped in front of Florian Fortescue's Ice Cream Parlor. She was slmost bouncing happily where she stood. "Come on!" She entered the colorfully decorated place with him in tow, and approached the cashier. "I'd like a two quaruple ice cream sundaes of mint and bubble gum, sprinkled with dark and white chocolate chips. Oooh! And one of those ice cream sandwiches." Giddily, she turned to him. "What would you be having?" A grin. "My treat."

He liked this more than he should, probably, walking arm and arm with Nymphadora. Not that he'd never admit that to anyone but Addison, but still. He liked it. Once they were outside, he took a deep breath of the air, smiling. It definitely felt better outside. The breeze, though humid, was still much preferred to the still heat from inside the shop. At least now he wasn't sweating. Well, at least not as much. When she exclaimed that she knew what would be perfect, he grinned, knowing what she was talking about. Or at least he was pretty sure he did.

He walked with her, looking around. He really did enjoy to people watch. They were always so fascinating and odd. Like, some were towing screaming children while others were singing to themselves as they peered in shop windows, browsed through street displays, and bustled along down the street. He loved coming to Diagon Alley. There really was no other place like it in the world, and he always had a good time. When they reached Florian's, he knew he'd been right in thinking that she was leading him to the ice cream shop. He listened to her order and thought she was ordering for both of them, but when she turned to him and asked what he wanted, he gaped at her slightly. "You really like ice cream, huh? I'll have the sundae thing that you ordered."

The slightest blush tainted pale cheeks when the other teased her about her great partiality to ice cream. A laugh escaped her, a light crisp sound. "You're still not use to me yet." she observed out loud, smiling at his before she had placed his order for him as well. "The people who know me are pretty used to my appetite. Addy, most of all." Less than a minute later, a tray filled with their orders was placed on the counter for her. "Oh and extra chocolate chips?"

Dora led Jackson outside and took a table by the entrance, a bright green umbrella over their heads. She served him his ice cream and took her first, leaving the cherry on a napkin for later before taking her first bite. The treat cooled her throat, and already the hot summer day seemed a lot more bearable. She offered a smile to Jackson across the table. "Good?" she asked, unknowing that she had smudged ice cream on her nose.

He liked the blush that rose in her face. It really suited her. Made her look even sweeter. He laughed when she said that he wasn't used to her yet. Which was true, considering he'd never spent TOO much time with her alone, just the two of them. Addy or Paul or someone was always around, usually. But he'd definitely like to get to know her, that was for sure. She was just so...wonderful. He shook his head, grinning at her. "But you're so tiny! Where does it all go?" Obviously she had good genes to be able to stay so thin and eat like she did. "Yes please, gotta love the chocolate chips.

He walked with her outside and slid into the chair at the table she'd picked out for them. It was a nice day, once you were under the shade of the umbrella. He thanked her when she handed his ice cream over and he took a slow bite, savoring it as it slid down his throat, the cold feeling very good compared to the heat he'd been feeling all day. He smiled back and nodded his head. "Very good!"

"Tiny?" Nymphadora echoed incredulously. "I'm not! I'm a fat arse compared to Addy. I mean have you seem that girl's arms? Like it's made of stone, I tell you!" She continued on exagerratedly. She was never big on sports, and she owed much of it to her lack of coordination. In the family games, she was almost always the one who trips on her own toes, or gets hit in the head with the ball. After taking the bowl of extra chocolate chips from the lady, she laughed at his question. "Where it goes for everyone. The food gets segregated in all my four stomachs!"

The day was once again bearable, with much thanks to their yummy ice cream sundaes. "That's my very own concoction. A friend once told me not to put bubble gum and mint together, but I rebelled. Now, I don't order anything else." She took another bite, before reaching in front of her to take a chocolate chip and, after throwing it high in the air, popped it in her mouth. Wow, that was good chocolate. "What's your favorite ice cream flavor, Jack?" She then took a piece and offered to pop it in his mouth, next, an inviting grin on her lips. "Try it!"

He rolled his eyes playfully at her. She most certainly was no where near fat or anything like that. She was crazy! "Addy might be in great shape, but you sure aren't a fat arse, Dora. Anyone with working eyes could see that," he said, smiling at her. He wasn't great at sports, either. He ended up tripping on his own feet half the time and the other half working at scoring on the wrong goal. He was in awe of Addy, really, for being so athletic. It was just slightly amazing. "Four of 'em, eh? That's a few more than I have," he said with a laugh.

He listened to her story about how she'd came up with the ice cream that they were currently eating and laughed. That sounded like her. "Well, I'm very glad you decided to rebel, then, these are pretty amazing." Really, he hadn't thought that mint and bubble gum would go too well together, either, but it turned out that it did. Go figure. "My favorite? Cookies and Cream, actually. Love it. And Rocky Road!" But really, it was hard to find an ice cream that he didn't like. He opened his mouth when she offered to toss it in his mouth, ready to catch it.

"I am such a fatty compared to my sister. The most amount of physical exercise I've done is... lift my utensils during dinner time." Dora said, shaking her head. She was massively inadept in sports that she had just chosen to be an announcer instead to show her support for her sister. "And yes, four. Don't you have four?" she asked, feigning innocence. She was more than aware that she eats like she's constantly starved to death. Which is NOT true at all. It could be the dominant Weasley genes.

"I know right?" Dora agreed enthusiastically. "It tastes strange, but in a very good way. But the ones you like are awesome, too! In fact, I can't think of any flavor I don't like... Maybe the green tea one. I'm not too much of a fan of that..." Fingers tapped her chin as she thought. "And pistaccio. For some reason the green ones." A laugh. Then when he opened his mouth, she tossed the chip in his mouth. "Score!" She pumped her fist in the air in her victory, laughing. "My turn!" she said, opening her mouth.

He just pffted at her and rolled eyes eyes again. She was off her rocker, clearly. She might not have been as built as Addy was, but that didn't make her fat. "Well, compared to like, the rest of the world? You look just fine. Not fat at all. And don't feel lonely. I'm not big on physical activity, either, so we are in that boat together." Really, the best he could do during quidditch matches was wave around a banner and cheer. "No, I don't think I do. Two, maybe, but not four. Maybe it's a girl thing?" he asked, winking. It was obvious that he was just teasing.

He nodded, taking another bite and letting it slide down. Strange but good was a good way of describing the way it tasted, yes. He nodded his head. "I like most kinds. I've never had the green tea, though. I don't think I'd like it very much. I like pistaccio, though. It's weird, too. I wouldn't go choose it over the others, though," he said, nodding his head. When the chip landed in his mouth, he mimicked her fist pump and took one of his own chips and tossed it, missing just slightly. "Drat! See? No athletic ability. Not even in THIS."

"My family is big on the whole Quidditch thing. I think all the athletic ability between me and Addy had not been properly distributed in my mum's womb. It all ended up on her side, obviously." Dora really wasn't too miffed about it. In fact, she truly did enjoy being the announcer for her family games, and in the Hufflepuff games back in school. It gave her the opportunity to parttake in the sport without embarrassing herself too much. Plus, she always had the best seat in the house! In her mind, it was a good deal. " Well, my mum and sister don't have such huge apetites. I don't think it's that. maybe I'm just a freak?" she suggested.

"The green tea was just weird. Tasted like grass ice cream." She scrunched her nose in her distaste. "Paul and I like mint. The second sundae is for him, cause I remember promising him I'll eat one in his honor while he's out travelling." Grinning, she took another big bite of her treat. When Jackson had aimed the chocolate chip in her mouth and bounced off her cheek, she laughed heartily. "Oh, try again!" she took Jackson's hand from across the table, plucked a chip from the bowl, and placed it in between his index and thumb. She moved closer until only an inch was left in the space between his hand and her open mouth. She looked at him with wide expectant eyes...

He nodded. His family wasn't HUGE on quidditch, but like any proper wizarding family, they all enjoyed it. But it wasn't like the Weasleys. They all did seem pretty big into the sport. But he liked listening to Dora commentate the matches. She did a good job at it. "Addy is pretty great at the game, gotta give her that," he said, with a swift nod. He shook his head when she suggested she was a freak. "Naw, that can't be it. You seem perfectly normal to me!" he finished, tilting his head at her and taking another bite.

"Well, if I knew what grass tasted like, I'd probably agree with you," he said, winking at her. He'd never tasted grass before! He grinned when she mentioned his his male best friend. "Oh, I was wondering why you got two, other than your big appetite, of course," he said, bowing his head a little bit. He took the chip from her and tossed, aiming carefully and he let out a whoop as it sailed into her mouth. "SCORE!" It was at that moment that he noticed the ice cream she'd gotten on her nose, and he laughed. "Ummm, you've got a little right...." he reached over and wiped it off, "there."

"Oh, she is!" Dora was very proud of her sister. She could take out the majority of their male cousins easily enough. It was pretty impressive for a girl her size. "And yes, I'm pretty much a freak, Jackson. It's just something you have to deal with." A thoughtful pause, before she pointed her spoon towards Jackson. "Do you think you can deal with it?"

When the other pointed out that he didn't know the taste of grass, her eyes widened in realization. "Hey, when I say I eat everything, I don't really mean everything!" she pointed out, pouting. "I haven't eaten grass. Oh, and I eat like this all the time, even without my promises to Paul. It's just that this one..." she pointed the sundae on the tray in front of them. "... is for his honor." Dora laughed heartily when Jackson was finally able to manage to shoot a chocolate chip in her mouth, then turned pink when the other wiped something off her nose. She bit her lower lip and brushed her index on the spot he just touched. "How long have I had ice cream on my nose?"

He knew for a fact that if Addy was to ever get mad at him, like really and truly mad, he'd have it. She was tough. But then again, he knew that she would never get mad at him like that, so it was all okay. "And okay, but we've all got a little freak in us, so it's okay," he said, waving his hand. They all had odd little habits and quirks, didn't they?

"Good, I was starting to wonder if you were some sort of livestock, going around eating grass and all. I mean, I'm down with the vegetarian thing and all, but that might be taking it just a little too far," he said, laughing softly. "I'm not sure, actually. I just know noticed it. As you can tell, I'm horribly observant. Or is it horrible at observing," he said, laughing again. It wasn't a big deal at all.

"A little freak in us. Now, there's somehting I don't hear everyday." Nymphadra said, giggling to herself before she took another big chunk of ice cream in her mouth. She watched him right across from hr, realizing she had not truly seen how awesome he was 'til now. "Well, what's your freaky little talent, Jackson? Care to share that with me, or would you rather save me from the trauma?"

Her eyebrows drew together when he spoke. "I don't eat grass, ok?" she cleared up. "I have, however, had the misfortune of downing a grass flavored Bertie Bott's once. Among other things." Earwax, dirt... the list went on and on. It was the downside of being such an adventurous eater. She remembered her mum nce telling her that she would put everything she got her hands on in her mouth. "No, not horrible at observing. " she said. A slow smile creeped up her features. "It's alright. Just thankful I got it off."

"So." She started then, pulling her knees up on the seat. "I want to play a game. Just a simple questions game. Maybe... we can shoot chips in each other's mouths. Whoever misses, gets to be asked a quesion. You in?"

He shrugged, laughing. "Well, I think it's the truth," he said, taking another bite of his Sunday. "I mean, think about it. We all have our little quirks and habits, so, that would be freaky. Thus, we all have a little freak in us!" He shrugged, laughing. "I dunno, I have a few, I guess. I still sleep with a light on. Not because I'm afraid, but just out of habit. Just when I'm at home, though. And since we are on the topic of ice cream and all, I like to eat chips in my ice cream a lot. Especially barbecue." He wasn't sure how WEIRD either of those were, but you certainly didn't hear about them every day.

"Okay, okay, I believe you," he said, laughing, though it was pretty clear that he was just teasing her. "Oh Merlin, so have I before. Absolutely nasty. Though, I gotta say, I've had nastier ones though. Which is kind of scary, but still." Those things were just dangerous on principle. Because mud and wood should never really be a flavor for ANYTHING. "Yep, it's gone!" he said, laughing.

"Um, sure!" he said when she mentioned the game. He was pretty bad at thinking of questions half the time, but he would give it his best shot!

"NO. WAY." Dora exclaimed at Jackson's unusual eating habit of eating chips with his ice cream. "I do that, too!" She said animatedly, her hands making wild gestures. Food was definitely a topic she felt quite passionate about. "Some people think I am crazy, but there's something about chips... maybe the saltiness of it that is the perfect compliment for chocolate and vanilla ice cream! Same thing with peanutbutter and apples for me." At this, she took a large bite of her sundae, then closed her eyes as if imagining something. "What I'd give for a plate of fries." Then she looked at him. "Maybe we should get some after? Barbecue chips. Or... onion blossoms." A pause. "Too weird?"

Nymphadora giggled at Jackson's teasings. "Nastier ones?" he asked. When he finally agreed to the game, she lit up even more. "Alright. What is the nastiest Bertie Bott's Bean you've ever downed? Or better yet, what's the nastiest thing you've ever eaten?"

His eyes grew wide as she said that she ate chips with her ice cream too. Finally someone that didn't think he was weird for it, who actually did the same thing. Just another thing that was amazing about Dora, really. "I don't think you're crazy at all! I completely agree. The two tastes just work so well together. It's amazing." He loved food, too, and he could go on talking about it for quite a while. He'd even written a song about it once, just to be silly. "Oh, yum. Fries. And no, that's not too weird. I like those, thank you very much."

"UM. Nastiest bean. Gee, I dunno. I've had some pretty bad ones. Ashes, like from fags? Those are horrible." He pondered her next question and then made a face. "Pickled okra. It's absolutely disgusting."
