Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Who: Scorpius and Avalon
Where: The lake
When: 7pm
What: Scorpius asked her to meet him
Rating: TBD

Scorpius' hands rested in his pockets as he gazed over the lake, mind abuzz. He had talked to his father again recently, and the through a series of letters the two had come to an agreement without the involvement of anyone else. Scorpius had yet to tell anyone of what decision had been made, as he thought it was only fair she be the first to know.

Avalon was, aside from himself, the one most deeply involved and therefore the one most dramatically affected by his decision. Yes, Annalise was a major factor, but she was, unless Adam or perhaps Phoenix or Athena had seen fit to tell her she was up for consideration. Certainly she would be excited to be chosen, but how could she possibly be disappointed she wasn't asked if she didn't know she was in the running.

As he heard footsteps approaching, Scorpius turned around to face her, the sun setting behind him. "Hello, Avalon."

Scorpius chuckled as she jumped right to the point, the hand that had tucked her hair away tracing her jaw before returning to its rightful place in his pocket. "You never were one for small talk," he mused, his usual smirk creeping upon his features, before his expression turned serious once more.

"I spoke to my father about my options," he said calmly. "I fought very hard for you, you know, brought up all those points you finally thought to make." His attention shifted briefly to the lake, the sunset reflecting across its surface. "The decision has been made."

For a brief moment, a small smile curled the corners of her mouth when he said he fought hard for her. But the moment those next five words came out of his mouth, the smile disappeared and she felt how her heart began to beat faster in her chest. She tried her hardest not to look nervous or tense, though; and fought against the urge to twist the ring on her finger like she always did when she was like this. "And what is it?"

Scorpius watched her reaction to his words carefully, knowing she was far more nervous than she appeared. He found himself to be shockingly calm considering what he was about to say was going to shape the rest of his life.

"Avalon," he said softly, staying close to her as he pulled a small black box out of his pocket and opened it before her, his lips curving into a smile. "Will you do me the honor of being my wife?"

Avalon held her breath as she waited for him to speak. She was really shaking in the inside, her future depended on him and she didn't know what she would do if she wasn't chosen... But fortunately for her, he did choose her.

She was sure her heart had skipped a beat or stopped for a whole second the moment she saw the black box with that beauitful ring in it. And it did it again when he asked her to be his wife. She felt like screaming and crying at the same time, but did neither of them (she was still a lady after all; although she'd probably scream and jump up and down in happiness once in her dorm). Insead, she grinned at him and nodded without hesiation. "Yes... Yes! Of course I will be your wife." This was the happiest day of her life -- until the day of the wedding, that is.

Scorpius had pictured both ends of this scenario a thousand times, telling her she was the one, telling her she wasn't. But the grin she shot him, the light in her eyes, he hadn't been able to picture them in quite the same fashion, and as he slipped the diamonds upon her ring finger, he knew it was an unforgettable expression, one he fully expected to see at least once more in his life.

He smiled briefly at the image of the ring on her finger, a perfect fit, before looking up to meet her gaze once more, gently taking her face in his hands. "You are exquisite," he murmured, before kissing her softly, kissing his fiance.

Avalon watched him as he slipped the ring on her finger, the grin never leaving her face. She had dreamed about this moment hundreds of times, but none of them could be compared to this, the real moment. It was simply and absolutely perfect.

She kissed him back, maybe a little bit more passionate than him but still soft. "I'm so happy right now." He had made the right choice; he wouldn't regret it, she'd make sure of that.
