When Avalon received Scorpius owl the day before, asking her to meet her because they needed to talk, she felt happy and slightly worried at the same time. Happy because she could get out of the house. Although she had sort of forgiven her father -- or at least didn't hate him as much as before -- and she was being polite to Katie Bell, she still couldn't stand the sight of both of them together in the same place for too long. She understood she made her father happy and she was glad, but it still felt strange seeing him with another woman (even if the relationship wasn't real). And she felt a bit worried too because "they needed to talk". He might have not said it with those same words but the meaning was the same. Avalon wondered what he could possibly want to talk to her about... He wouldn't be mad because she was jealous of those girls who kissed him the other day, would he? He hadn't seemed mad then...

After telling her father she was going to visit Scorpius, she apparated outside the Malfoy manor. She was greeted by a House Elf and this one led her to where Scorpius was waiting for her. Knocking on the door lightly as she stepped into the library, she smiled at him. "Hello, darling."

Avalon listened to him calmly at first. His first words gave her no reason to began panicking or being angry; and a small smile started forming on her face as he said she was his firts choice for a wife. But as soon as she heard the words that followed that her expression became serious and tense, and her breathing quickened slightly. This could not be happening. He was the only thing that hadn't changed in her life since school started, he was her rock. If he was gone, what else did she have left? "Why uneasy?" She asked, trying to maintain her composure and not raise her voice. Or cry.

Scorpius sighed softly at her question, knowing the answer was bound to make her irate. She had not taken the entire ordeal with he parents well, and now when the anger was perhaps starting to subside, wounds were going to be opened all over again. It wasn't going to be pretty. "It's no fault of your own," he explained. "My father thinks you're a lovely girl, however... your family..." If Scorpius were anyone but himself he might have grimaced at this point. "Has had some rather public discrepancies. Your father, in particular." Katie Bell was not, by any means, the sort of woman Draco had in mind for an in-law.

Avalon's hand tightened in fists hearing the reason. Of course her father had to ruin her marriage too! It wasn't enough with ruining the life she had been living until recently, the image she had of him and her mother. No, now he had to also ruin the only thing she knew she had for sure. She wasn't angry now, she was furious. "And it's just logical he doesn't want you to marry a girl whose family is publicly screwed. That's just perfect, Draco. Perfect." She said, shooting him a glare. "And you're not even going to fight for me, aren't you? Who does your father want you to marry?"

Ah, there it was. He watched her temper flare, keeping his face expressionless except, perhaps, for the small furrow of his brows. "What would you have me do, Avalon?" he asked. "I have made my wishes clear, but I will not go against my father." Scorpius had known all along that he was to marry whomever his family believed was in his- and the family's- best interest. Avalon had to know that.

"There are a number of potential candidates," he replied calmly. Scorpius was one of the richest pureblood bachelors and therefore one of the most eligible. "The only one you may perhaps be interested in is Annalise Pucey."

"You're a Slytherin, for Merlin's sake. Manipulate your father to make him choose me... Or you don't want me that much to even try it?" Yes, she was emotionally manipulating him a bit, though she honestly wasn't sure it'd work on him; but she had to try. She needed to know he had the same feeling toward her she did toward him.

Avalon snorted. "Of course." Please, she had more class that Pucey. Not to mention she was more beautiful. He better not marry her or she'd make sure she made Annalise's life a living hell.

	"I certainly hope, Avalon, that you are not insinuating my father is foolish enough to be manipulated by anyone," Scorpius said, face darkening. Scorpius held his father in very high regard and was always seeking the man's approval. "Annalise is a fine girl, Avalon," he replied calmly. "Of course not, Scorpius. I respect your father too much to do such thing. But there's no harm in trying, if you really do want me as your wife." She knew she had hit a sensitive subject and she quickly fixed it.

"If you think so why don't you marry her already and save us all this drama?" She snapped. She did not like hearing the possible wife-to-be was a 'fine girl' coming from his mouth. "And it's not my fault my father has been hit too many times in the head with a bludger to care about how his stupid decisions affect his family."

"No one said I haven't tried Avalon." Irritation was creeping into his voice as he looked at her. Quite frankly, it was out of character for Scorpius to so much as question his father's judgment, and his doing so for Avalon should have said something, at least in his mind.

"Is that what you want?" he asked, eyes locking on hers. "You speak so freely of how hard I should fight for you, but say nothing of you fighting for me." He had expected more from Avalon, more willingness to prove herself, and he had certainly expected at the least a claim that she was a better option. "All my father sees is a tarnished family name. Do you have nothing to say in your family's defense? Can you think of no reason why you should be chosen over her?"

"No, of course it's not." She knew he was right. She was demanding him to fight for her but she was just waiting to be chosen, she wasn't doing anything to show that she was better than anyone else his father might consider. And that wasn't very Avalon-like. When she wanted something, she did everything in her power to get it. So why wasn't she fighting for him when she wanted him more than anything? That made something 'click' in her mind.

She looked at him and spoke. "You want to know because I'm better than Pucey or any other girl? Apart from being a young woman with more class, style and elegance than any other pureblood girl, I know you better than her or any other girl does. I know what you like and dislike, how to make you smile, laugh or even moan in pure pleasure. I can make you happy, Scorpius. And isn't your happiness important too? Or do you want to be stuck in a loveless marriage that wouldn't go anywhere?"
