WHO: Paul Creevey and Kaida Weasley
WHAT: Love potion! A surprise for the unsuspecting best friends.
WHERE: That hiding place of hers.
WHEN: After classes
RATING: PG-13?
STATUS: Complete!/closed

Paul couldn't let it go. It was one thing for Kaida to not tell him something when it was on her mind, but to avoid him completely was something else. Truthfully, he might have figured it out on his own had he not been so preoccupied with the situation. He hadn't really noticed how the other girls were acting. Sure, he'd had to escape a few girls from younger years and Gianna was acting strangely, but he hadn't taken the time to observe Hogwarts as a whole. Maybe if he had it would have clicked, the reason his best friend was in hiding.

Still, he was oblivious really. He was simply determined to figure out what it was that she seemed to be hiding. She said she was confused, but that it wasn't safe to tell him, and that in itself was enough to worry him. He had left the Hufflepuff commons with confidence that he would find her, leaving his journal behind after one last statement. He wasn't going to sit around and worry over this. If she couldn't tell him, it would be a comfort just to see her. He knew all of her ususal hiding places, and he figured it wouldn't be overly hard to find her.

He started at the closest spot and began working his way up the castle. He checked passages, places she usually went to when she was upset or wanted to think, and he looked over the face of every person he passed, just in case one of them was her. He came to a set of stairs between the fourth and fifth floors and paused, remembering it was a common spot. It was also close to her Tower, convenient. That was where he finally found her, in the little alcove behind the stairs, " Hey, Kaida," he greeted, slightly hesitant, unsure of how she was going to react. Usually, he could predict her reaction, but not that day.

He'd always responded to the phsyical affection with such ease, as if it were just a natural part of who he was. He found himself gravitating closer to her, leaning the way she was leaning, as if to be that much closer to her. And he'd never been shy about hugging her or brushing her hair out of her eyes. He'd always thought she had the most beautiful eyes. He'd been thinking about everything a lot since the ball, but he hadn't really said anything about it. He was reluctant to believe it was the truth, maybe because he wanted it to be true so badly and he was afraid that she wouldn't feel the same. He hadn't wanted to ruin anything. He found himself thinking about her when he was alone, about her smile and the way that she always seemed to make him feel like everything he did was worthwhile. He'd always just considered it friendship, but he'd been doubting that his feelings stopped there. He was really beginning to believe that he'd been lying to himself if he ever thought they were simply best friends.

Kaida knew that Paul bottled emotions and pretended that things were fine when they weren't. She knew that he feared being alone almost more than anything else, because he was never meant to be alone. He was a social soul. She knew that he was worried that Emily would get herself hurt, and she knew that he really wanted to be closer with Colin. He never intentionally kept secrets from her. He was a bit too preoccupied to really say any of those things right then.

Small steps were always better when things like this were at stake. They were best friends. He didn't want to lose that for anything, no matter how much he wanted more. He playfully pushed his tongue back against hers, feeling that same shock of lightening. He felt as though he were on fire in the best way possible, burning and yet shivers were still crossing his spine.

It was simply easy for her to rest her head against his shoulder when she was sleepy waiting for whatever transportation when they decided to explore buses or trains, or well when their was no floo that could get them where they wanted to go. At least that was changing. Now they would be able to just pop away to where they wanted to go. Kaida loved that idea, but currently she was much more focused on the feeling of his lips, his arms, his body really. She didn't think about it, but they were completely and totally having a nice long snog. If someone asked her last week if they thought she'd be standing in a hidden place snogging her best mate, she'd think they were crazy. However if she really thought about it, she kind of liked the sound of it. For one, it felt really, really good. For two, it felt right, nothing about it felt awkward, he could read her body language, she could read his. She knew perfectly well that this was knew for both of them... Who would have though? Well probably some people, Kaida had never thought about it, or she just never let herself think about it.

They both knew basically everything about the other person, they were both comfortable, both happy when around each other.. Okay sometimes they were down, but they both always managed to cheer the other up. Paul always took care of her, why hadn't she realized it until just this second how much he took care of her with everything, no matter what was bothering her, no matter what was scaring her. Half the time she didn't even have to say it out loud. Just how he never said things out loud, but she knew them. Somethings didn't need to be said to be understood.

She felt a shock when she felt the playful push from his tongue, oh, he'd turned this into a game, what kind of game, she was learning fast, but she let her tongue push back before going to find some kind of hiding place (not that it was really possible for a tongue to hide).

Putting his arm around her, having her close, it was so natural for him that he'd never even thought anything about it. He wasn't so sure that he wouldn't miss those times waiting. Of course, nothing said that they had to be waiting on something to sit so closely. It seemed to him, at that moment, that Kaida was simply everywhere, surrounding him. It was an overload of his senses, every emotion and feeling heightened, that he simply couldn't get enough of. He felt as though some part of him had always acknowledged this sort of feeling for her. Perhaps his mind just hadn't caught up with his emotions yet. It seemed impossible that this hadn't been progressing over time without their knowledge. It wasn't awkard in the slightest. New and passionate, yes, but not any sort of discomfort. He wondered just how many people had seen this before them.

Even when they were feeling upset about something, they knew just what to say to put a smile on the other's face. He'd been through everything with her since the day they met. He'd stood by her side when she was hurting through her break-up with Dante, and she'd been by his side through every loss and struggle. They took care of one another. He could always see when something was wrong with her, just as she could tell the exact behavior he exhibited when he was trying to deny that something was wrong.

He pulled her even closer by the waist when she responded so delightfully to his move. He could tell what she was doing, the playful game she was continuing, and he changed his tactic. Softly, he caressed her tongue with his own where she seemed to be 'hiding' it, kissing her deep and slow.

It wasn't fair, he was winning the game, the slow kisses were causing her knees to get weak, her body to nearly melt into him. It wasn't fair, but she didn't really care if he did win at the moment. This wasn't the kind of game where you had a loser. This was the kind of game where they both won. It was fun, and exciting.. Not to mention really new. It was beyond anything that she was used to in her friendship with him, but she sure as hell wasn't about to pull away or change it.

She'd never enjoyed snogging as much as she was right now, and it wasn't just because of some stupid potion, in fact she didn't even remember the potion (maybe it had worn off). Instead she was focused on her emotions, on her feelings. Kaida didn't always handle emotions well, but at the moment she loved all of them. Fear, enjoyment, something that she wasn't ready to admit too... Whatever it was, damn she was loving it. Paul's arms around her waist felt perfect, they felt safe, and yet his kisses felt safe with the right level of danger she needed.

She was just happy to be where she was. Honestly though, part of her was worried about what would happen after they stopped, after they finally stopped the games of snogging. After the first kiss passed, although this was the type of first kisses that a girl dreamed about (even a girl like Kaida). This was the kiss that she'd put down in a book someday, because anyone would be over the top lucky to feel what she was feeling right now.

Paul didn't always play fair, but it didn't really matter right then. He would never let her fall. His hold on her waist wasn't only keeping her close, but ensuring that she was safe. He'd always protected her, and that wasn't any different. He didn't really think that she was going to fall, but he wondered if she was getting that knee buckling, breathless feeling. He continued kissing her, not wanting to end that perfect bliss. He wasn't ready to let it go yet.

He was rather preoccupied by the feel of her lips and the warmth of her body pressed closely against his. It was distracting, but he wasn't really thinking all that much anyway. His mind was hazy with the feelings that kissing Kaida had risen inside of him. Before, if he thought he'd expereinced any kind of emotion like this he was wrong. Maybe it was that everything seemed so intensified.

What they were doing, it would change their frienship indefinitely. They could probably never go back to being exactly the same that they had been that morning. They would think about that kiss every time they thought about one another if they tried to return to that normalcy. He was trying not to think about it, but something inside of him kept bringing up that little thought. He wouldn't ever want to give her up, not for anything. And the thing was...he didn't want to go back to normal, whatever that was. Not now. But it probably wasn't going to be the easiest conversation they'd ever had.

Knee buckling, and completely breathless? Oh, ever since her lips had hit his and he'd responded she completely got that feeling, it only grew as they kept going. She was completely comfortable and safe. She didn't mind, she actually really liked it. She would keep this going as long as she possibly could.

The changes in their relationship, well somewhere in her mind she knew they would have to talk about it, figure it out, but right now? Who wanted to figure it out when she was feeling this great, when he seemed to be this into it too. Actually she knew perfectly well he was just as into it as she was. There was no way to hide that. After all she could read him. Hell he didn't even have to speak most of the time to get her to understand, this wasn't any different on that front.

It was just really different from the looking at him and reading it. This was feeling it. It was weird, but totally natural. She could feel it, she couldn't help but love the feeling of it. It was crazy, it was perfect. She let her hands run into his hair as she pushed herself against him more.

He'd certainly not expected this when he walked out of his commons before, merely intending to search for her and figure out what was bothering her. In truth, he'd really forgotten most of the reason he was there in the first place. It hadn't made sense, and then with her kissing to confuse him, the pieces weren't fitting together anymore. Really though, he would much rather just get lost in every sensation he was associating with her.

It wouldn't be that hard to really figure out what they were going to do about things, as if it weren't already obvious enough. They could be friends, the would always be best friends...but they could also be more. Something real and true. At least, that's the logic that Paul's mind skipped to. He knew that she understood his feelings at that moment just as well as he understood hers. And from the feelings they both were experiencing, neither wanted to remain 'just friends.'

Paul knew of very few things that just seemed as though they were meant to be part of your life. Things that seemed as though they were experiences some greater power had always intended for him to have. And this was one of those moments. He had loved every moment of that kiss. Her hands in his hair rose goose bumps on his skin, giving a soft groan when she pressed herself closer to him. It was torture, but a most excellent form of it.

Getting lost in snogging him was about the best thing in the world to her. She felt safe, and comfortable, and excited. How often did you get to feel all of that at once? Kaida didn't know, and at the moment all she cared about was the feeling of snogging him, the feeling of his arms around her.

She didn't know how long they had been snogging, but it was probably a few hours. It was getting late, and even though the last thing she wanted to do was stop, one of them mumbled about getting back to avoid detention. Well she wasn't sure who said it, but Paul ended up walking her back to Ravenclaw.

It took a while though, it sort of felt like no matter what she did she couldn't stop herself from kissing him. It was like some kind of drug she didn't want to kick. She would pull him into the shadows, snog him for a bit before moving a few feet and doing it again. There was laughing, and fun. It was fun. It felt perfect to her, natural to her. As if this was how it should be.

When they finally reached Ravenclaw it took one of her dorm mates grabbing her shirt for her to stop kissing Paul. She smiled at him as she got pulled inside. Kaida went straight up to her bed, the only thing on her mind was Paul. Honestly, if it wasn't for her dormmates keeping a watch on her, she would have found a way to get back to him.
