Who: Adam and Isabella
Where: The library in their "secret spot"
When: After classes
What: Friends talking
Rating: TBD- probably PGish

Isabella wasn't entirely sure when they had started meeting like this. It had been coincidental at first, both showing up in the library every day like the true Ravenclaws they were, but over the past few months, it had become something Isabella counted on. She would show up in their secret spot, always before him because she was nothing if not punctual.

She would open a book and read until he showed, and they would talk about nothing inparticular. Isabella still hadn't figured out why he showed up, or why she showed up for that matter, but she supposed it couldn't hurt. After all, she'd noticed she stumbled less around him than she had five months ago... er.. sort of, at least. That had to mean something.

She had never told anyone about their meetings, perhaps for fear of the embarrassing conclusions she was certain her sister and others would jump to, and she found herself wondering, as she paged through her latest novel, if he had told anyone either. She was pretty sure no one would confuse his intentions for her.

It was nice to hear that Adam didn't think she was insane for reading so much. Most boys didn't like girls who were smarter than them- not that she was smarter than Adam- or who threatened their bizarre notions of male superiority. Adam was different. He didn't make fun of her or laugh at her when she said something completely idiotic (like her last statement about the new edition of one of her favorite books). "No." Her hands fidgeted slightly in her lap. "Romania and Ireland and stuff, but not Venice, but I think Paul wanted me to go explore around Hogsmeade or something."

Very few people made the mistake to show interest in Bella's ramblings about dragons more than once. After sitting through her spiel once, they never wanted to suffer through it again. Her passion about dragons was quick to overwhelm the embarrassment of Adam's hand playing with her hair. Adam really should have known better. "Oh! Well, it'll be out in time for the next Hogsmeade weekend!" she explained enthusiastically. "It's completely redone, of course. It's got loads of new information, new photos and all that. They've been doing so much research that it was beginning to be outdated. Oh! And," Her eyes were alight as she kept right on. "They think they've discovered a species that was thought to be extinct years ago! Can you imagine how that must have felt to spot it? They're supposed to be going more into depth into that too-"

Adam had always believed wit is an essential part of anyone's characters, and he found it admirable that even at such a young age, Bella was quite astoundingly so, even though he has noted her tendency to blurt out randomly at times. He has always allowed her to indulge in her stories though- the soft tone of her voice was one that he found was most comforting. "Venice is easily my favorite place in the world. I have my own place with a good view of the lagoon. You can visit me sometime!" At this, his own eyes reflected the spark that can be seen in hers when she spoke of her dragons. "Imagine lazy afternoons admiring the landscapes on a vaporetti, or riding the gondola down the canals. Peaceful, calm. Can you imagine it?" A smile. "Do you think that would be daring enough for your friends?"

Adam has in fact allowed her many times to go one about her dragons, a topic which he has early noted she was obsessed about. He had gathered it was the influence of her father, and such was something he understood even if it was not from personal expreience. "Then I suggest you get it! You look so excited." he observed out loud, his hand reaching up, before his fingers combed down the length of her hair. "It's always most exciting to discover new things. Is that waht you'd wish to do in life after Hogwarts? Be a dragon... herder is it? Tamer?"

Being intelligent was one thing. It was easy to read and learn facts and increase your knowledge. Being tactful, social, and communicating well were entirely different. She was brilliant at the former, one of the greatest bookworms Hogwarts had ever seen, but when it came to the latter, she was one great, big flop. They say practice makes perfect, but did faceplanting over and over again really make you any better... or did it only make you the ultimate faceplanter of all faceplanters? "V-visit you?" As in her, alone? Come stay with him? Spend an excess of time with her? "Wow. Uh. Maybe." She let out a nervous laugh.

She swallowed nervously as his fingers moved through her hair, her leg bouncing up and down rapidly as an outlet for her nerves beneath the table. "A dragon keeper," she corrected him with a sheepish smile. "I thin so, yeah." If only people were as easy to understand as dragons. That would make Isabella's life an awful lot easier.

"Yes. Visit me." Adam urged, smiling at her. It was not too often that he allowed visitors in his Venice flat, but Bella was always welcome company no matter where the venue. In fact, he only realized now that the two of them had scarcely interacted outside the library walls, or even outside the invisible line that surrounded the two chairs and desk they call their spot. "Nothing wrong with extendng your horizons a little, is there? Anytime you'd find suitable to your summer schedule, my doors are open."

Clearly, she has too many nervous habits. Adam wondered if she was even aware that he's noted too many of them in the past. "Like your father." he said, all too aware of other people's histories. Father's orders. "Have you ever actually seen one? A dragon, I mean."

"Oh, well, thank you." She ducked her head, pretending to focus on a page of her book. She knew her cousins would never let her go to a boy's flat by herself. And she had a feeling her father probably wouldn't like the suggestion much either. She was allowed to be around dragons, but not boys. That was the life she led.

She smiled sheepishly. "Yeah, like Dad." For a moment, Isabella looked almost insulted at the notion that she might have never seen a dragon. Would she really be so interseted in them if she'd never seen them first hand? "Yes," she replied. "I've helped my dad with work a lot."

Adam cocked his head to the side, noting how her eyes weren't really moving over the page she's pretending to read. "Thank you isn't a yes, or a no." he stated, shrugging. "But I suppose I understand if you'd not wish to go. I apologize for such a bold offering; you might not feel comfortable at all being just with me. And you still aren't ready to travel alone anyway. There's also the issue of your violently overprotective male cousins. I could understand the many reasons for your hesitation..." With a smile, he released her hair, and focused more of his attention on the parchment before him, and a potions volume that needed to be read and analyzed.

A nod, as he started readng. "I hadn't expected a lot would be allowed to see them, but given your connections, I suppose I really shouldn't be surprised. I'm quite envious. I only wish I could see one..."
