Who: Jareth and everyone!
When: Day Four, evening
What: The King 'invites' everyone to his masque...
Where: Jareth's castle
Rating: Anywhere from G to R, I suppose
Status: Complete

It had been raining earlier in the day, but it had cleared up a short time ago. Jareth looked out the window of his massive ballroom, empty for now, and felt a little bit disoriented by the fact that the Labyrinth had just disappeared. Of course, he'd made it happen, but it had been a long time since he'd felt so exposed. But he couldn't very well have people needing to wander through the Labyrinth, could he? And the two who had been running it had been transported to the castle already, and he knew from the screams of rage that they were being dressed at this very moment.

The king smiled and turned away from the window, checking out his ballroom. It was quite spectacular, with a large orchestra pit, many snack tables, and, of course, lots of empty space for dancing. This, he figured, would be a night to remember. He snapped his fingers and peered into the crystal that appeared there, scrying on each and every person he'd brought to the Underground. Some, he knew wouldn't come on their own, and he sent crystals floating out to ensare them. Of course, some might just be strong enough to resist that pull, so he had goblins standing by to bring others in. Whether willing or not, everyone would be attending, he'd seen to that.

Dressed in his finery, with an evil looking mask in the guise of a leering demon, he walked over to his throne. Draping himself casually over it, he waited. People would be arriving anytime, now. He didn't fool himself for a moment that some wouldn't take this chance to attack him, which was why he wasn't precisely there. Anyone who tried to attack him, he knew, would find their useless effort wasted against what was no more than a projected image.

He gestured, and a goblin slave brought him a glass of wine. This, he was convinced, was going to be a night to remember.

Caspian nodded to Hermione's question. "He's the son of the Emperor-Over-the-Sea, the sovereign of Narnia, and believe me, Lady Hermione, bringing me back to life and riding me of a few years of it is hardly one of his more impressive talents." He was getting slightly irritated with being contradicted, after all.

He bid goodnight to Tonks, and wondered whether or not he should escort her back to her room, to insure that she arrived safely, but before he could make the decision, she was gone.

Standing there a moment, Caspian looked around, and when a waltz started, he did the only thing he could think of to break the silence. He extended a hand to Hermione and smiled. "Would you care to dance, m'lady?"

“Narnia…Narnia as in The Chronicles Of Narnia?” Hermione just now realizing who Caspian was, she had read the entire series of books and loved them. In this world she met a Wicca witch, a Princess who claimed to have a relative from a fairy tale, was told she was from a book and now she’s meeting Prince Caspian, how come she never got it earlier? He was in fact talking about things that happened in the books now that she put two and two together “Wow Prince Caspian” she whispered astound, this place Jareth made seemed a little more bizarre now that she was the one recognizing fictional characters.

“Good night nice seeing you again” Hermione said waving goodbye to Tonks as she walked towards the exit. Alone with Caspian she never knew what to say really so stayed silent not wanting to say anything stupid about the books just like her Caspian would not know he was from a book so she never wanted to let him think she was crazy, just giving his a awkward little smile as she turned to face him.

The waltz started and Hermione listened to it for a second enjoying the rhythm when Caspian asked for a dance “Yes I would like that” she smiled reached out her hand and let him take it and lead the way to the dance floor. She had wanted to dance all night and was very glad Caspian asked, it was hard for her to believe that she was dancing with Prince Caspian since he was a little crush of hers reading the books and here she was dancing with him it felt more like a dream then real life as she followed the handsome Prince in the waltz “Thanks this is nice, your pretty good” She said turning a light shade of red.

"The chronicles of Narnia?" Caspian repeated, his face rife with confusion. "The fact that you've heard of my homeland is hopeful, I suppose, but what do you mean 'chronicles'?" He smiled a little when she called him by the title he hadn't carried in almost fifty years. "Not for a long time, m'lady," he said with a shake of his head. "But please, none of the preamble. It's just Caspian," he insisted, just as he always had with his friends.

Taking her hand, he tucked it in the crook of his elbow as he lead the way out to the dance floor. He was quite an accomplished dancer, and lead well, so Hermione's relative inexperience didn't seem to matter in the slightest as they sailed around the floor. "I've done a turn or two in my day," he grinned, and reached his hand up from the small of her back to brush the backs of his fingers over the blush. "A lovely shade on you, m'lady," he praised, mostly just to see her do it again. He was a little wicked like that.

“I read it in a book” Hermione said it was not a lie because they where books she just never wanted to go into detail right now, maybe later when he got use to his new home she would explain how he comes from a book just like her. “Fine just Caspian then” She nodded.

Dancing seemed flawless with Caspian just the way they moved across the floor made it seem to be a second nature when clearly Hermione knew she had little dance experience. “I’ll say you have you’re the best partner I had” the prince made Victor Krum look like he had two left feet and during the dance classes with Professor McGonagall Harry proved he actually did have two left feet then their was Ron she giggled at the thought of him dancing with Professor McGonagall. “Thanks” Caspian got what he wanted with his touch and compliment she stayed that shade or maybe even went a bit redder and her giggle must have added even more worth to it for him.

They twirled a few more times before the song ended “Thanks that was very nice” she smiled at him “Perhaps maybe we should get something to drink?” she suggested now feeling a bit parched but she could also go for another dance it never really mattered “Or maybe another dance first?” she offered as the next song started.

Caspian smiled at her praise and tried to not think of the last ball he'd attended. It had been a great many years earlier, and he'd been escorting his wife. Dancing like this with Hermione made a little pang go off in his chest, thinking of his great queen. But, she had died many years ago, and so it was mostly with fond memories that he thought of her.

"A drink would be just fine," he smiled, offering his arm and then leading her over to the tables. He retrieved two glasses of champagne and passed one to Hermione with a smile. "So tell me of the place you come from?" he requested, offering his free arm again and leading her out to one of the balconies, to keep the girl from having to shout over the music.

Hermione took Caspian’s arm and let him lead her to the tables were the champagne was and took the glass he offered her, after a sip she took his arm again and was off towards the balcony and once out their she looked out over the edge for a few seconds gathering her thoughts and turned around to him. “Well I come from a small town near London were my parents are dentists and I attend a school for wizards and witches called Hogwarts in Scotland where I take a train to from London every September, In my world wizards and witches live in secret from non-magical people and the our world is in the middle of a war now with the most powerful dark wizard named Voldemort.”

She paused to let him take in the information and take a sip of her champagne “My friend Harry Potter is the chosen one that is said to defeat him once and for all and we were on our way to try when I was taken to this land” she finished with a sigh thinking of all her friends back home and wondering how their doing. Caspian would not understand what certain things were without further expiation but she just waited for him to ask. “How about yourself? please tell me about your homeland” she already knew a great deal about him and Narnia but never wanted to be rude.
