Who: Jareth and everyone!
When: Day Four, evening
What: The King 'invites' everyone to his masque...
Where: Jareth's castle
Rating: Anywhere from G to R, I suppose
Status: Complete

It had been raining earlier in the day, but it had cleared up a short time ago. Jareth looked out the window of his massive ballroom, empty for now, and felt a little bit disoriented by the fact that the Labyrinth had just disappeared. Of course, he'd made it happen, but it had been a long time since he'd felt so exposed. But he couldn't very well have people needing to wander through the Labyrinth, could he? And the two who had been running it had been transported to the castle already, and he knew from the screams of rage that they were being dressed at this very moment.

The king smiled and turned away from the window, checking out his ballroom. It was quite spectacular, with a large orchestra pit, many snack tables, and, of course, lots of empty space for dancing. This, he figured, would be a night to remember. He snapped his fingers and peered into the crystal that appeared there, scrying on each and every person he'd brought to the Underground. Some, he knew wouldn't come on their own, and he sent crystals floating out to ensare them. Of course, some might just be strong enough to resist that pull, so he had goblins standing by to bring others in. Whether willing or not, everyone would be attending, he'd seen to that.

Dressed in his finery, with an evil looking mask in the guise of a leering demon, he walked over to his throne. Draping himself casually over it, he waited. People would be arriving anytime, now. He didn't fool himself for a moment that some wouldn't take this chance to attack him, which was why he wasn't precisely there. Anyone who tried to attack him, he knew, would find their useless effort wasted against what was no more than a projected image.

He gestured, and a goblin slave brought him a glass of wine. This, he was convinced, was going to be a night to remember.

The young witch had almost feared what may appear in her closet but at the same time she found her self helplessly hoping for something better. When the closet had been opened the following day however in preparation for the ball what Tara had found there made her jaw drop. The gown was amazingly gorgeous. Almost too much for her to even think of wearing it, but the blond witch over came her shock and managed to very gingerly undress and cover her body in the garment. Breathing steadily the blond witch pulled back her hair and carefully the mask adjusted to fit properly tying it back with ease. Taking a look in the mirror she inhaled deeply. Realistically the two items didn’t look that bad on her and with her hair up, she barely recognized her self.

Directions had been left on how to get to the ball with ease. Slipping on a comfortable pair of shoes the witch then easily made her way to the desired location. Her stomach churned the entire time as her nerves refuses to cease. ‘I wish Willow was here. She could keep me calm.’ Tara swore her stomach was going to revolt against her before she even made it within eye sight of the door, luckily, she was wrong. Though the dark magic felt even more icky here to the point of making her skin crawl, the blond witch knew what she had to do. One way or another she had to make the best of this night, perhaps she could at least meet some of the more friendly journal responders?

Pausing once the door was easily within eye sight she stood a moment, reassuring her self that she could in fact do this and that it would turn out to be at least a little fun, right? With an assured nod to her self Tara put on a smile and headed for the door, noticing the red headed woman standing by it she gave the other a quick smile and a short friendly wave before proceeding through the door.

Inside was extravagant. Almost too much so. Glancing around caused a nervous wringing of her hands to occur before the blond witch moved out of the way of the door to a comfortable wall flowery position so that she could better take in the surroundings.

Willow could feel her cheeks flush with embarrassment as the other girl she'd tired to speak with merely waved and walked on by her, she was foolish to think someone was going to stop and talk with her. This made her feel like she was the outside geek in high school once again. She let out a sigh but picked up her dress and walked over the few steps into the castle.

Inside there was a nice crowd of people talking and listening to the music that was very mystical sounding, almost as if it crept from the very corners of the dark castle being made out of thin air.

Willow nodded and smiled at a few people but made a b line to the table with drinks and other goodies spread out, she poured herself a glass of punch after being re assured there was nothing alcoholic mixed in. Taking her drink she too walked towards the wall and stood not far from the other woman who'd ignored her moment's ago. She took a breath and tried to talk again. "I'm Willow, what's your name?" She questioned hoping her soft voice could be heard over the music.

‘Remember to breath. Just breath.’ Muscles were tensing regardless of the near mantra like restatement of words going through her head again and again. Arms slowly crossed over her abdomen as eyes continued to wonder the crowd. Had her and Hermonie agreed to a secret term? With the feeling of her skin crawling from dark magic it was hard to keep thoughts together in coherent and reasonable manners since the blond witch felt as though she should be whipping together every cleansing ritual she could ever remember into one big mega-cleaner for this icky feeling castle.

Being so wrapped up in her own thoughts Tara had completely missed that the pretty red-head at the door saying something to her. Getting her self geared up and into the ball had been her sole focus besides for the little wave of politeness.

Slowly becoming more familiar with the surroundings the blond witch’s nervousness was beginning to subside as eyes continued dancing around that huge room. Everyone that had shown up had rather elegant garments on, though some of the items did seem out of place for the classical time period that things like th—A voice finally broke through the woman’s jumbled thoughts as she felt a… familiar… energy near by. It was hard to completely feel out anything in this place though since there was so much going on.

Turning to face the speaker Tara instantly recognized it as the pretty redhead from the door earlier. The dark colored dress was very flattering of the woman’s figure, quickly the witch’s eyes dropped away from the other woman’s form as eyes turned towards the ground and a few lose strands of hair fell over the mask. Inhaling Tara summed up all the courage she could seem to find within her self and eyes raised to meet the other woman’s. “I’m, um, Tara. Nice to, um, meet you.” A smile pulled at the corners of her mouth hinting at her high cheeks bones that were hidden by the mask which had been provided for her. The hair she normally let fall in her face had been exchanged for the mask she wore tonight. Instead of hiding behind blond locks tonight he would hide between the mesh of gold, black and green covering her face.

Something clicked in the blond witch’s mind about the voice, but with everything that was going on, a familiar voice was the least of her concerns at this moment. Even if a nagging feeling in the back of her head refused to let up about what precisely it was in that voice that was so…. Home.

As the other woman turned to speak to her there was immediately a skipping inside of her that she hadn't felt in a long time, the energy surrounding the woman in the beautiful dress which was in almost the same fashion of her own caused her slowly inch closer to the other girl without her even realizing it. Willow clutched her drink taking a small slip of red punchy liquid to cool her mouth which had suddenly become dry as the sharia.

Maybe the mishap at the door was something that hadn't happened for some reason like she was too strange to talk too, maybe this girl was looking for someone inside and had to run in fast. Willow tired to keep her thoughts as up beat as possible, she was having a hard enough time with that already so tonight was time to give herself a break and have fun.

Willow's eyes seemed to be all over the other girl, this was something that never normally happened but she just wasn't able to pull them from the figure before her. She couldn't put her finger on it but this woman had a familiar presence that put her at ease. Opening her eyes again she looked at the other woman's eyes and caught the shy quirky smile that ran the course of the other's fine facial features.

Something urged Willow forward now as she let go of the cup she was holding letting it fall to the floor, something was making everything inside her scream about this woman and she was determined to find out just what was going on here. Closing the space between them Willow came closer standing in front of Tara, her hands rose to search for the woman's face letting her fingers trail the outline of her cheeks.

“Tara.” Willow spoke in a husky whisper as she felt her heart falling to meet the floor. “I'd know those eyes anywhere.” Her voice was soft and feathery as her hands pushed up the mask that was covering the other woman's face reviling exactly what she thought was under the very see though disguise, at least to her it was, nothing could keep her from her lover. Willow took Tara's hand and gently brought it to her face she kissed over her knuckles then then guided Tara to push up her own mask up and off to reveal her own features. There was a soft smile painted on her soft red lips and her very green eyes sparkled for the other woman. “Oh baby, I knew it, I knew you were really here..I could feel you.”

The redhead seemed all too familiar and Tara’s eyes kept wondering no matter how hard she tried to keep her self composed. The familiarity was extremely comforting though finding this degree of comfort in such a strange place, where nothing was at it seemed brought it’s own aspect of apprehension. The name that had slipped to the back of her mind as Tara had found herself focusing on the question presented finally hit her. ‘Willow’. With the name resonating in her mind, like a cannon’s blast Tara’s eyes began to search the features of the other: the red hair before her, the green eyes, the pale skin and slim frame.

Everything in time seemed to slow in an instant as Tara’s feared the heart in her chest would be its way out of her body. The thundering thudding of the powerful muscle over powered many of the other noises at the ball, yet somehow the cup hitting the floor managed not to be lost to her attention. Blue eyes turned down with breath caught in her throat as the glass bounced along the floor and spilled forth its contents. When the blond witch’s gaze turned up in time to feel fingers caressing her face she couldn’t help but freeze in place. Even the energies were familiar, even if something inside of them was different. It was still...

Words interrupted her thoughts as blue eyes remained on beautiful green. The removal of the mask was slightly startling as it was unexpected more then anything else, but Tara still couldn’t move, couldn’t think, could barely even breath with all of the power and emotion she felt for her self and the other. Their hands fell perfectly together as the other woman guided Tara to remove her mask. The blond witch knew exactly what she was going to see at this point but her mouth still went dry and a lump rose in her throat as the material was slowly removed. Pulling the mask completely off Tara’s hand fell to her side with the material of the mask slipping out from between now numb fingers.

She remained in shock, with mouth falling slightly agape as Willow, her Willow, was revealed to be standing right in front of her. The woman was slightly different then what she remembered, but it was still the same miraculous woman she had fallen desperately in love with. All the traces in her energies and aura that had drawn Tara to the bright and perky Wicca in the group of wanna be witch’s was still there, even if they were a little clouded now.

“Willow…” The single word fell from her lips in a whisper as eyes searched in disbelief. Was this really real? A trick? In the shock the shock of the moment Tara slowly raised a hand up towards Willow’s face, pausing a moment before touching the woman, fingers then gently caressed over her lovers cheek and jawbone. “I…I c-can’t believe you’re here.” She couldn’t help but stammer in a hushed tone of disbelief.

Immediately their surroundings melted away into a blurry buzz, she had tunnel vision at the moment and it was all for Tara. Willow had been convinced she was never going to see such a breathtaking sight before her eyes again, the high cheek bones she loved to caress, a blue set of eyes she could drown in and most of all the nape of Tara's neck she could bury herself in. The loss of her lover had torn her down in the most extreme way and suddenly there she was just an arms reach away.

The energy she was suddenly surrounded in made her skin dace a happy dance of joy. Tara's mask had joined her own on the floor then her arms went out to pull the blonde witch closer to her own body, her arms wrapped around Tara's waist hugging her as if she had never done so before then pushed her red lips against her neck kissing lightly then over her cheek. “Oh my gods, I thought, I thought I'd never see you again.” She inhaled sharply then kissed Tara sweet lips as if she were going to vanish again from her grasp and turn to dust like the vampires. “I can't believe this either not at all, it's really you though I can tell. No one else has that energy, no one else can rip away my attention form the world with just a glint in your eyes.”

Silent tears rolled down the red-head's cheeks quietly, not for sadness but pure joy, somehow, some way Tara was alive and she could feel the other woman's life force mingling with her own. If she ever believed in the powers of magic this was a time her belief was solidified by this very paused moment in time. A sense of peace washed over her tired body, all the worry and darkness that had been plaguing her had vanished and all that remained were happy, fuzzy thoughts and feelings all by the mere presence of Tara and the taste of her on her tongue.

Willow pulled back just enough to look into pure blue eyes. “Please Tara, don't leave me again.” She was practically choking on the words speaking in a very soft low tone, almost a whisper. “I-I'm sorry I couldn't save you or bring you back, I just couldn't...” She shook her head then hid herself in Tara's shoulder, she felt as if she let go the whole bottom of her world would fall out again.

Her shock was mildly broken by the sudden arms pulling her into a close hug. The soft lips crashing into her neck caused a gasp of both surprise and pleasure. It felt like it had been forever since Tara had, had any affection from Willow in that manner. Words poured out of sweet lips that the blond witch had been questioning for the past weeks. Even though she understood the words, the true meaning was lost as what Tara thought to be the truth raised in her own mind. Why did Willow look different though? Had being brought to this place transformed her looks? This all had to be some very very crazy dream as the blond witch found her self melting into the kiss. After all of the cold and lonely nights spent by her self in the new dorm room, it was hard to believe this was happening. Kissing Willow had been something that had plagued every waking and dreaming thought of the blond for days, if not perhaps a good couple weeks now.

Things had been going so much better and Willow had been trying so hard, it broke Tara’s heart being away from a woman who was so desperate to prove herself to the blond witch. It had to be done though, it may have been hard on Willow, but in the end Tara had come to the conclusion that tough love would be the only thing to get through to the other woman. More words came from a… almost panicked and at the same time relieved Willow. The combination was confusing as Tara had only seen it a few times before in her life previously. A slow nod was given in response to the words as shock still over rode her system even as her mind made desperate attempts to throw it off.

Tears appearing jerked Tara back into reality and a hand was quickly brought up to wipe away the tears. “Will…what-what’s wrong?” Her voice was kept low as she spoke, looking directly into the other woman’s eyes in search of a meaning for all of this. There were a million things wrong right now and it may seem like a stupid question, but she was sure Willow would understand.

Brows bunched in confusion at the next words. ‘Again..?’ Pausing for a moment she debated the pro’s and con’s of the situation before gently placing her hands on Willow’s arms and leaning back so that she could look the other woman in the face. Why was Will so upset about this? “Save me? Bring me back?” Both voice and eyes questioned with confusion. “Will… what are you talking about? We’ve just been broken up. You’ve known exactly where I’ve been. In the dorms.” Something was desperate in the redhead before her, like she’d only seen once before, after Willow had restored the brain drain caused by Glory. “We’ve been walking to class together. You know where I’ve been.” The words were soft, concerned even as she added in the last two sentences almost more for her self then anyone else.

However her confusion was soon to be broken as an enormous creature raised to their right with a noise that caused Tara’s eyes to go wide with shock and fear. What WAS THAT THING?! Muscles stiffened as she stared at it, her brain frantically scrambling on what best to do when she realized that one of the other party members controlled the beast and was making it attack the host. ‘So not with the good ideas, we don’t know anything about him yet…’ The thought screamed through her head as Tara began to back away from the scene, not sure what to do as she pulled Willow with her.

Willow closed her eyes and took in the moment as well as the sent of the other woman, there was something inside of her that was screaming at her now telling her that this was in fact real, that she had been reconnected with Tara, how and why was something they would have to figure out at another time. Right now the only thing she could think of was how much she had loved and missed Tara, she also wished she could have stopped her death from happening in the first place, but as Willow had thought was a dream Tara had no memory of this, what was going on? Her thoughts were hushed by the more feathery kisses, sending her thoughts back to the morning she had seen the other last, it was such a fairytale but a new more modern one, things were changing with the times and so were they. But everything had faded to black with the deafening sound of the gun shot which had stolen Tara from her.

Thoughts broken by Tara's alarm she spun around and got a quick look at the monster, a gasp escaped her red lips before she uttered a protection spell out loud, she kept a hold of Tara's hand then backed up to follow where she had been pulled. Losing her footing Willow tripped and bumped into a wall, instead of hitting it however parts of her body passed through the not so solid brick allowing her to pass through it completely. As she fell she had taken Tara with her both tumbling to the ground with one falling on top of the other. Willow couldn't help but let out a laugh as she had landed on top of her lover. Looking down at the blode pinned under her body she couldn't help but smile. “Leave it to us to find the secret hide-y spot.”

She couldn't remember the last time she felt Tara's body under her, could feel the heart of the other pound strong, she could feel the heave of the other's chest. There was so much life pouring through the other it was starting to peak her arousal. Willow looked down into blue eyes and brought her hand to clasp her fingers with Tara's. “Tara.” She whispered. “What, whatever happened, I'm sorry, I'm sorry I didn't listen to you when I should have. This might not make any sense to you but I've had the help you thought I needed and am in control of my magic, no more darkness... I just can't lose you anymore.” The look on her face spoke true of her words. Being alone in some odd room filled with armor and strange paintings amongst the walls was a help.

Willow ran her fingers against Tara's cheek caressing them before she placed her mouth against Tara's for a hot kiss, it had been so long since she was filled with the taste of her girlfriend she made the kiss heavy with need. She only pulled back long enough to utter a few words. “I love you Tara, always, with every part of my heart, just do.” She couldn't help it, the words needed to be said and as uncomfortable as the floor had been she would stay there with Tara forever if it meant she was with her again.
