Day One - Exploring the Dorms

Helena had been wandering for awhile before she finally worked out where the dorms were. She had got lost at first, the directions she had been given were way off, but had entertained herself enough with the strange surroundings. It looked, she was convinced, like the renaissance fair she had seen as a kid. A typical dream setting then, though she confessed not as appealing as the White Queen's City had been. She had stopped for a moment to try to get her bearings, then given up and just picked a random direction. She argued to herself that since it was her dream, then she should be able to find her way not matter what direction she picked. Amazingly, she ended up being right.

She reached the circle of buildings and stopped. There was a room number etched into the side of the key, telling her she was in the E dorm. Not 100% sure she was heading towards the right one, but going mainly on faith, she headed towards the closest building, her bunny slippers making a light scuffing noise as she walked.

"I wasn't sneaking. It isn't my fault if you didn't hear me." He was trying, mostly in vain, to suppress a smile. He hadn't meant to startle her, but it had been kind of funny. He would have crouched to pick up the book she'd dropped, but she did it herself and saved him the trouble. His arms were crossed over his chest and he watched her huff yet again and point to her door, which was evidently stuck.

"Move aside." He nudged her slightly and then put his shoulder to the door, applying pressure. It didn't take a whole lot of exertion on his part before the door swung completely open. But to Cathal's surprise, he still felt as if he were leaning against the door. Furrowing his brow, he stepped back and put his hand to the open space. He couldn't put his hand past the inside of the door frame. There seemed to be some sort of invisible barrier there.

He glanced down at Helena for a moment and tried again. His own room hadn't prevented him from entering this way. His hand had been on the knob when he'd opened it and leaned inside to glance around. It was very strange magic that kept him from entering another's room. He tried his own magic against it and found that it did nothing but cause a slightly painful jolt to move down his arms. He dropped them and stepped away. It was apparent he wasn't allowed inside.
