WHO: Tara MaClay & Severus Snape and OTA.
WHEN: Day Two, mid-day
WHAT: Trying to make the best of it.
WHERE: Wandering around the Ren Faire.
RATING: G, it’s Tara, seriously.
STATUS: Incomplete

What had happened to her? Everything had been so confusing. Well, everything still was confusing there was no doubting that, now it was just a different brand of confusing. Where was Mr. Giles library of the occult when you needed it? In fact, speaking of that, why hadn’t Tara ever read anything about this? Sure Mr. Giles had hundreds of books and how anyone could ever read through all of them was beyond Tara but between her, Willow and everyone else, how had no mention of this place ever come up? This place was clearly soaked with magic. Maybe it was the fact that most of the magic felt dark? The blond witch had always tried to stay away from the dark magic books unless forced into them for fighting some big badie or creepy crawlie of the night. If Willow was here maybe she would know something. Even though Tara hadn’t really approved, Willow had done some pretty extensive research on the topic of black magic.

Eyes squeezed shut tightly before fingers were brought up to gently run over them. At least the bed was somewhat comfortable. Once Tara had picked out a room she had spent some time pacing back and forth as her hands wrung together in deep thought. Giving up on pacing Tara finally had smoothed the long and flowing skirt underneath her and sat on the bed to contemplate further any plan of action she could come up with, even though no company had been in the room her head had still tilted forward allowing hair to fall over her features. The old action was barely preformed anymore with the rise in confidence she had obtained thanks to her relationship with Willow, but sometimes when alone she still practiced the art of hiding away from the world. Using the action as a sort of safety blanket to hide her self from the world when things seemed too complicated. The buzzing in her mind unfortunately got her no where. Laying back hair fell away from her face and the blond witch stared at the ceiling with no concrete conclusion coming to mind.

The sun shifted through her window causing the light to shine down on her and Tara sighed softly. There was really only one thing to do, and that was to make the best of it until a solution could be found. Standing up she smoothed out her clothing before glancing in the mirror and heading out of her bedroom door. Making her way down the stairs from the second floor Tara exited the building and walked towards the ren faire silently watching everyone shuffle to and fro. Interlacing her fingers in front of her a soft smile caressed her lips as a juggling entertainer began to make his way past, catching all of the young wicca’s attention and stopping her in her tracks.

Snape was shocked when he heard that Tara not only did not have a wand, but claimed not to need a wand. He, truly, did not understand how that was possible. A wand was the locus of a wizard's technical application of his skill, the ultimate focus for practical manifestation of his inner power. What sort of magic could Tara do without one? She said her mother had been a powerful witch that had taught her everything she knew, but how much could that have been, if it didn't involve using a wand? Unless the women of her family were so powerful they did not need a wand... Could it be that lost in the muggle morass of California there was a forgotten family of witches with a different way of doing magic? What an amazing curiosity that would be!

"Never needed a wand? My dear girl, that's impossible? How do you cast your spells? How do you focus your magical power? If what you say is true, I must see what you can do!"

The blatant confusion in Snape’s demeanor made the blond witch shift slightly. Why was this so surprising? Tools were useful and honestly sometimes needed in spells but at the same time weren’t always required. Sure when rituals were done, or when a spell specifically required something, but there were plenty of spells that merely required your own focus, a few word and a balancing of the energies around you. Wasn’t that understood by every witch or warlock? The sudden splurging of questions caused the blond witch to blink for a moment before she summed up all the answers to his questions in her mind.

“N-no, I, um, never needed one.” She paused for a moment before continuing. “Well, um, with rituals, i-incantations, summoning of inner energies and, um, balancing of the e-energies around me.” Shifting Tara wrung her hands together slightly. “I-I could, um, show you a-a couple, um, small spells I, um, guess.” The blond witch offered up a weak smile to the man not sure what else to do.

Minutes earlier, Snape had been imagining that their conversation was almost through, that he was soon to be off planning magic lessons and calling on this young woman in a couple of days to get her properly acquainted with normal magical culture. Now, however, faced with the irresistibly fascinating offer of a display of wandless magic, Snape could not leave. Tara sounded completely serious about her ability. Either she would fail to do what she claimed, and be exposed as a fraud, or she would succeed, and Snape would be witness to a true marvel.

"By all means. I would like nothing more than to observe your practice."

Crossing his arms, Snape gave the self-proclaimed witch room and watched to see what she could do. He would be very disappointed if he were to find out she was merely a muggle with a good imagination.

With the invitation in hand Tara nodded, what would be something simple that would easily work? Thinking for a moment the blond witch then decided on what she could do that would be assured to work. A slight smile pulled at her lips as the Wicca decided the perfect spell to cast. With a wave of her hand and a few words in latin tiny tinker-bell light appeared in front of them. With a simple wave of her hand Tara controlled the lights path, allowing it to float about in figure eights before smiling shyly at the man.

“I-it’s a, um, r-really simple spell but it’s, um, the first thing that c-came to mind.”
