Who: Der Tod & Delerium
What: Curiosity leads to meeting
When: Late Afternoon
Where: The amusement park
Rating: I doubt we'll move much past PG
Status: Incomplete

As a rule, Der Tod did not like what he did not understand. There was much about this place he did not understand, and it grated on his nerves constantly. It didn't help that he was also painfully bored. Stripped of his duty - practically of his very nature- there was little here to challenge him. There was the Labyrinth, but he was wary of attempting it without at least a bit more information he currently possessed. So he'd taken to wandering the amusement park, trying to get a feel for the limits and limitations of this place. It killed time neatly.

Today he found himself wandering down the same row of stalls he'd walked with Rudolf their first night here. This time however, more stalls were open, and more interestingly there was someone, or perhaps something else coming towards him down the row. It looked like a rather strange young girl, but Der Tod could tell she wasn't human. Nor was she like that vampire boy he'd met. No, he realized, she was someone who'd never brushed his realm, and never would. That realization should troubled him, but it didn't. She felt almost familiar somehow.

"It's time that we talk to each other. It's time to break the silence" he sang, and then stopped, confused. That hadn't been precisely what he'd meant to say, though it worked. But why had he sung? Granted, he was hardly a bad singer, but why now? Something very odd was going on.

Felt different, but the same. Like this place, the Labyrinth. Same and different. She studied the man, mismatched gaze moving over his face. "We're not the same, we're different tonite..Tonite, tonite.."

But then Delirium gave the man a look of exasperation. Of course they knew each other. Of course they didn't know each other. "I remember when. I remember, I remember when I lost my mind.." She used to be Someone and now is Someone else. "Maybe I'm Crazy.."

"Maybe you could hide behind me, maybe for a while. And I won't tell no one your name." Each statement was different from the next, notes and tones changing as the rest of her did. The girl stepped closer, head tilted again.

Der Tod held very still as she stepped closer, watching her carefully. Her song seemed to go all over the place, both musically and lyrically, and yet it fit her perfectly. He held out his hand in greeting, an almost gentle look on his face, far different from the superior and arrogant expressions he usually favored. But those were for humans. And this girl, strange as she might be was an equal.

"You are?" he sang

"Last of Seven, no beginning or end." This was singsonged, like a child going through a nursery rhyme. "My name was once different, but now Delirium."

The gentle look didn't escape her, smile returning brightly for the reaction. "Got a sister named Desire.." Tuneless song hummed as she was trying to figure him out. Was this the Sister-Brother's latest and greatest form? Everyone else was fairly staid in their appearance. Unless another person wanted to see them in a different way. "Olly olly oxen free."

He gave her a formal bow, with none of his usual irony. "Der Tod" he offered, a slight tone of humor in his song. "Lord of the Dead" he added, as an afterthought. It was a bit redundant, yes, but it fit, musically.

"I don't know who you are, but I remember you" he sang, mentally snarling at whatever force it was responsible for this rather inconvenient trend. It was making conversation annoyingly imprecise. He didn't remember Delirium so much as recognize at least part of what she was.

His bow was met with a twirling sort of curtsy, then tilted her head. Der Tod. That was another one of Death's names. "Death!" Skinny arms wrapped around the not-sibling in a hug.

"Different faces, different places." Humming as she pulled away. "We are family. I got all my sisters with me." Tune changed as she motioned between the two of them.

Der Tod started slightly as Delirium suddenly flung her arms around him. Physical affection was not something he was used to. Affection in general, outside of Rudolf's neediness, wasn't something he was used to. Still, he knew she meant no harm, and she recognized him for exactly what he was and still threw her arms around him. It was enough to tease another genuine smile from his lips.

He let her pull away and shook his head. "A friend" he sang, trying to put in those few notes the fact that while he was a friend, he was no one's _sister_
