WHO: Caspian and OPEN
WHEN: Day 9, evening
WHAT: Discovering the amusement park
WHERE: The amusement park?
RATING: TBA
STATUS: Incomplete

Caspian had won the maze, but not his freedom. And while he wasn't entirely sure he wanted it, given the alternative, the option would have been nice. Not that he particularly expected Jareth to give anyone options about anything, but the point was still valid. At any rate, he'd beaten the maze with the help (or not) of his companions, and had spent the next day or so wandering around his new homelike area, investigating the house and the Goblin City, getting his bearings yet again.

Then he decided to try out the teleportation device, and see how the others were getting on in the City of Illusion. So, after a painless, but odd, bit of magic, Caspian found himself in his old quarters in the dorms. Easy enough, though he wasn't entirely sure how frequently he was going to be making that trip back and forth. It was a bit unnerving, after all.

Walking out of the dorms, Caspian stopped short. It was Christmas, though that was fine, if a bit odd. They had Christmas in Narnia, after all, so that wasn't anything to be alarmed about, other than the drastic weather change. What had stopped him in his tracks were the huge metal things looming overhead. There were people in them, laughing and...screaming? But everyone looked so happy. Where as Caspian, for the first time in fifty years, felt like the scared little boy that had told Aslan that he didn't think himself ready to rule.

'Boy' would have been an arguing point if Caspian had known she saw him that way, but as it were, he didn't, and even if he had, there was a good chance that he wouldn't have cared at the moment. After all, there were mad looking machines everywhere and people were out of their minds in trusting them...

He started when he heard a voice nearby, and Caspian looked at the young woman with wide eyes. "I beg your forgiveness, but could you explain to me..." he trailed off and looked at the rides again, shaking his head. "I'm not accustomed to such things, and there seems to be a great deal of people laying their trust in those things, which hardly look safe."

"My name is Caspian," he offered, along with his hand, palm up, as he had every intention of kissing the back of hers.

Alex stared at Caspian in a bit of awe. He certainly looked to be close to her age but he talked as if he was from a different world. "er...well they're rides." she started unsure of how to describe it to someone who had never seen it before. She had worked for a few years at Big Sky theme park back in Montana but she only worked the tickets not the explanations. "They're for fun really. People strap themselves in, so as to not fall out, and then the person down on the ground--often in a booth, or at least that's how we had it set up when I worked at one of these--turns it on and they go for a 'ride'. Hence the name." she rubbed the back of her neck a bit nervous unsure if the guy was joking or if he really did want an explanation. She hoped that'd explain it at least...relatively well...

"Oh sorry, My name is Alex. I would say it's nice to meet you but given the circumstances..." Alex reached out for his hand but didn't realize until after she had already grasped his that it had been palm up. She went to shake it though was suddenly unsure of what to do. "If you don't mind me asking, where are you from?"

Listening to her explanation, Caspian watched the rides go around on their tracks, shaking his head slightly. There were thousands of ways that he was aware of to have fun, but to strap oneself inside a steel beast and hope that they won't fall out? It seemed to be quite a bit of of insanity to him.

"The circumstances are relative, and it is lovely to meet you, m'lady," he said with a smile, charming despite his confusion, and dipped his head to brush his lips across her knuckles before straightening and releasing her hand.

His eyes coasted back to the rides as she asked her question, and he gave them one final bewildered look before turning his back on them so that he could pay fuller attention to what the lady next to him was saying. "My kingdom is called Narnia," he explained. "Though I suppose it is not my kingdom any longer," Caspian mused, tilting his head to the side for a second before blinking his eway out of the tangent. "Where do you hail from?"

Alex was surprised when he kissed the back of her hand. As soon as he released it she awkwardly crossed her arms over her stomach, flushing a bit at the gesture. It was so midieval to her period. Especially being called 'm'lady'. She tried to wrap her brain around it all. Though when he said he was from Narnia she was even more surprised than before.

"Narnia? A kingdom?" she realized she was staring at him wide-eyed for a moment before she quickly picked up the pieces of her brain, "Well...I was last in Massachusetts..." that was true though 'from' was a different answer. She still hadn't told anyone that she wasn't a normal human. Best keep something like that to herself, she supposed.

Alex moved closer to the edge of the amusement park and glanced back to Caspian. "Do you want to try riding one?" she asked with a smile on her face.

"Yes," he smiled kindly, nodding. He'd learned that his land was something of a fairy tale to most of the people in this place, and told her as much. "My home is quite unlike most, or so I hear," he explained.

Caspian had never heard of that place, and was excited to learn about something new. "What is...Massachusetts like?" he asked, saying the land's name slowly, carefully, making sure that he pronounced it right. "Is it a large place?"

He followed as she moved, and eyed the rides at her suggestion. "You're sure there is no risk of injury?" he asked. "I would hate for you to be at risk merely to sate my curiosity," he admitted.

"I'm...sure it isn't." Alex shook her head. She knew she had recognized the name before. A...story perhaps? Wasn't Narnia a series of books? She tried to brush it off though, only having read the Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe when she was really little. Though she was suddenly worried about how she was pulled in with a possible character that was fictional in her world.

"Massachusetts?" she let out a small laugh, "It's not that big. It's just a decent sized state in the country: The United States." she shrugged, "It's really nothing special." To the human eye she thought to herself. Though many people overlooked Coventry practically being in their backyard.

Alex continued to smile at Caspian. "I promise we'll be ok." she tried to assure him. Besides even if something happened she'd be able to get them out of it ok. "It's fun, you'll see." she went back over to him to go to through the enterance.

"The United States..." he said quietly, trying to remember where he'd heard that before. It was an old memory, a vague one, but it clicked over fairly quickly. "That's on Earth," Caspian grinned with obvious excitement. "You're from Earth! I was there once, in London, for about five minutes, it was wonderful," he said happily. "You must tell me all about it, I had friends once, from England, but there was precious little time to hear all about living in such a place," he explained.

He followed her as he spoke, his anxiety all but gone in that he was so excited to have met a person from the Pevensies' world, that he barely noticed what sort of ride they were getting on. Though, Caspian did pause in his questioning long enough to make sure that she was secure in the contraption before settling with himself.

"It must be fascinating living in a round world. I was told once that there was nothing particularly interesting about it when you were there, but I don't believe that," he shrugged. "Are there places where people walk around upside-down?"

"Right. Earth." she smiled at him as they walked into the park. "I've never been to London before. I've only been to three states. Two of which I lived in." Alex felt she probably wasn't the best person to be telling him about Earth. She knew so little about living in different countries or states than Massachusetts, Montana, and California; and those weren't as exciting as a place like London.

Walking with Caspian into the amusement park she decided to lead him to something harmless. Perhaps a ferris wheel? That seemed easy enough to start him on. She figured she'd start low and work her way up to the crazy rollar coasters.

Looking at the creature that was manning it Alex could feel almost as nervous as Caspian for putting her life in the hands of it but she shrugged it off and sat in next to him.

"Narnia isn't round?" she asked surprised suddenly by some of the things he was saying. "No people aren't ever upside down. Though the world is round, when you're on the ground, everything still looks normal enough from your point of view." she did her best to supress a laugh. Though upside down people would be a funny thing to see. "Well...perhaps we all find things that are different from what we are used to, to be a lot better or more interesting than ours." she offered, pushing back some of her pink and black dyed locks from her face as the ferris wheel began to move.

Caspian looked truly disappointed at the conformation that people didn't walk around upside down on Earth. Sure, he'd been told that, but he'd sort of hoped that they'd been taking the mickey out of him, sparing him the envy he'd feel from knowing the truth. But apparently it was just as they'd said.

"No," he said, shaking his head at her question. "Narnia's flat, like a table, with the waters of the oceans spilling endlessly from the sides, as a friend of mine used to imagine. I've never known anyone that has been to the edge and back to speak of it, but that's what the stories say, at any rate."

The ride started and Caspian jumped a little, gripping the bar and definitely not feeling like the king and saviour of his homeland, more like a frightened little boy. Pushing that aside as best as he could, he concentrated on the locks of hair blowing in the breeze, brushing a few strands behind Alex's ear. "Are you some sort of dryad?" he asked with a smile. After all, the only people he'd seen with oddly colored hair had been other than human.

Alex noticed the expression in Caspian's face change and felt a little sorry for him. He had been so excited before about Earth but now just looked dissapointed. "I'm sure you'd like it there if you went." she said trying to make him feel a bit better. "I've only been to a few places that were nothing special. But Narnia..." she let out a small laugh, "That sounds like an interesting place. Flat with the water pouring endlessly? What would happen if you fall off the edge?"

She leaned back in the seat as the ride slowly moved them first forward then backwards in the circle of the wheel. Alex looked out across the view of the maze of the labyrinth wondering what was in all of it's corners when she felt Caspian brush some of her hair back behind her ear. She turned back at him confused. "Dryad? I'm not sure what exactly that is."

He was sure that she'd be right, if only he could get there for more than a few moments. But, he couldn't. It was a long story, and not one that he felt this kind woman deserved to have lain on her shoulders, so he merely smiled at her offer. "You would most assuredly not come back to tell the story," he returned with a smile, a slightly teasing light in his eyes. "No one knows."

Alex wasn't the first person he had met with no knowledge of the spirits that Caspian had no doubt surrounded them all, and so he merely smiled at her question. At least he had his answer in her confusion. "A tree spirit," he said simply. "It's very rare to see them so far away from their tree, but I thought that perhaps you might be one of their kind, or something similar. I've not ever seen hair like yours without some magical element attached to it," he admitted. And even then, her hair was still different from what he was used to.

"It's beautiful, and fascinating," he admitted, having a bit of a hard time keeping his fingers off of it as he watched it catch the light in all its different shades. "Would it be terribly rude of me to inquire after what you are?" he asked, giving her a hopeful smile.

Alex nodded in understanding. To her this all was too surreal. Narnia? Flat world? she shook her head half expecting to wake up in the room she shared with Cam.

"Tree spirit? Huh..." she thought to herself. Great...more fairytale stuff... she thought to herself but suddenly felt a bit selfish. She did exist didn't she? So if witches could exist why couldn't a tree spirit of some sort?

She smiled at him when he complimamented her hair. Though she had dyed it at first to frighten and offened, with the long hair being choped off to a bob with blue streaks; it has sense grown out to it's original length just with black and pink instead. "Thank you." she said feeling a bit awkward that he was staring at it with such interest. "It changes a lot so when I get bored I mess with the cut, style, and color." she shrugged.

Alex was unsure how to answer Caspian. "I'm a girl." she tried to brush it off as nothing but, seriously? Reality check for Alex! She was talking to someone who was supposed to be in a book probably in Cam's bookshelf. She sighed and figured what the hell. Caspian had been honest with her and he seemed like a decent guy. "I'm a witch actually. Though the hair thing is still just hair dye not magic. Though that would be pretty sweet to learn to do." she tried to tag on a joke at the end of it.

Caspian listened to her explanation, forcing his hand back into his lap where it might behave herself, though he still couldn't help but watch the way it caught the light, just the same.

Then she forked over the vital information, though apparently it really had nothing to do with her hair. Part of him wanted to ask if she was an evil witch or a good one, but well, she didn't have to answer honestly, and in that vein, she hadn't needed to tell him at all. So he supposed that she was a good one, and really, it would have been unforgivably rude to ask.

"What sort of witch are you?" he asked easily, as if this were a conversation he'd had every day of his life. Which wasn't entirely true, but still. "Magic and those who wield it are not uncommon in my land," he explained.

Alex was rather surprised by his nonchalant way of accepting the information. Most people she knew would freak out at the mention of something like that. God knows she flipped when she realized what she was. Then again it was the same day she found out she was adopted and had a twin sister she never met on the other side of the country.

"Well I'm just a fledling at the moment. Though I was about to be let go and become the leader of the new generation of witches and warlocks. Me and my sister, I mean." talking about it felt alright in Alex. A lot less nerve-racking that she had expected it to be. It actually felt...nice to be able to have someone besides Cam to talk to.

She shrugged when he said how common it was in his land. "I guess I shouldn't be surprised really. Flat world and magic...is there anything you don't have that sounds so..." she couldn't think of the right word to describe it. It was just interesting and different to her. Though she had wanted different when she was younger and got it in the package of a sister and magic, Caspian's world seemed a lot more than hers.

He listened to her story politely, and though there was little of it that he truly understood all the details of, he could understand the destiny to rule. "You were to be a queen then?" he asked, tilting his head to the side. "As well as your sister?" There wasn't surprise, just genuine curiosity there, as Caspian had certainly heard of multiple kings and queens ruling at the same time before.

"That sounds so what?" he asked, raising a brow. The things in his world weren't fantastical to him, and so it took him a minute to catch on to what she was getting at. "We have normal things too. Homes and towns and schools and people," he shrugged.

Alex had never really thought about it as being a queen. She just knew that Karsh and Illeana had made such a big deal about keeping her sister and herself safe to lead the new generation. "I suppose it'd be like that...I'm not sure if I'd have the title of queen but something along those lines I suppose." she wasn't completely sure as to what the title was just what the job entailed. Though she didn't have any time to really get briefed on the subject due to being dragged here.

"So what are you?" she asked then listening to him describe Narnia more. "You have so many magical things, which one are you?"
