STATUS: Incomplete

The elven prince was undeniably excited. It was even worth leaving the Goblin City to come back to the City at the Entrance to the Labyrinth, just to learn more about this strange world. It seemed to him that many of the people that he'd met had hailed from this Earth, and his curiousity had been piqued by this. To find something of a native guide, this was a good thing, as far as he was concerned.

So he waited anxiously as long as he could. He finished lunch about an hour early, just because he was so eager to get to the library to learn more. Deciding that he could start by himself, he went to the library, and ended up getting there a little early. This was his first time in the place, and he looked around, somewhat in awe. "So many books..."

Of course, on his world, books weren't so common. Yes, the elves had more than the humans did, but this collection even surpassed Lord Elrond's. For a long moment, he simply looked, trying to take everything in at once. Finally, he laughed, absolutely delighted, and went over to the nearest bookcase. Plucking a book at random, he was even more delighted when it was a book of elven verse. He opened it, and soon, was immersed in the Sindarin poetry.

He made a bit of an odd sight, really. Standing there, blond head bowed, obviously a fighter with his bow, his knives, and his practical clothing, reading a book of elven poetry. Every so often, he read a phrase that truly delighted him, and he would sing or recite it out loud. But this was all fairly par for the course for him, really.

His eyes were large and a brilliant blue as he turned to look at the human. "Surely you jest? That is too much water! The elves on your world must be in a constant state of agony, waiting to go to Valinor!" He scanned Schuldig's face for mockery, found none, and then shook his head and let out a soft sigh of awe. "You who live on Earth are truly blessed." He looked for one more moment at the telepath, then shifted his attention back to the map. He listened intently to what the human said, nodding at most of it, frowning in confusion at other things. What was a vacation spot? And he laughed outright at some of the place names. Africa? America? Canada? These were funny words to him, and he couldn't help but laugh out loud.

He accepted the book and flipped through the pages, stopping often to laugh at some of the animals. He eventually got to zebras, and read the entry avidly. "Oh, look! That horse has stripes. Do you think that it would respond to the language of the elves as do other horses?" He got lost in looking up the animals, making little comments about them. "Penguins... are those birds? They look strange...." and "Kangaroo!" That last one had him actually convlused with laughter so that he had to put both hands on the table to steady himself. So distracted was he that he didn't even notice when Schuldig eased behind him and spoke into his ear.

The contact had him shiver slightly. His ears were very, very sensitive. But he closed his eyes, breathed deeply, and tried to pay attention to where his finger was being placed. "Japan, Tokyo, I know of these places. London, England, kangaroos..." He closed his eyes once more. "I follow, I think." His eyes opened, showing a flash of violet before settling back into a brilliant blue. "There is so much... all of Middle Earth is not so large."

Schuldig's own blue eyes sparkled with laughter and he shook his head. "No, no jesting. But I don't think there are any elves on my world either. Only humans and animals and the occasional monster." When he picked up confused thoughts, he explained, "A vacation spot is a place people travel to, to relax. South America is warm pretty much all year, so during winter, people like to go there."

Legolas' questions, so childlike and innocent, amused him greatly, and he found himself laughing just as often as the elf. "He might, if you ever got the chance to talk to a zebra. And yes, penguins are birds. Birds that can't fly. They use their wings instead as flippers, to swim."

It was delightful, having a student so eager, and, in all truth, very, very beautiful. The reaction to having his ears touched, even by breath, made the telepath smile as his suspicions were confirmed, and he decided then what he would do with this wonderful new toy.

He let his fingers comb through the elf's long, golden hair, and when he spoke again, his lips just barely caressed the sensitive ears. "Well, there might be this much on Middle Earth. You see, before people discovered the Americas, we thought the world consisted only of this part." He gestured slightly, catching Legolas' eyes and giving one of his sultry smiles, his voice almost silken. "There may yet be more on your planet too."

"Perhaps they have all long since gone to Valinor. I do not see how this could be avoided, with all this great expanse of ocean everywhere." He found it difficult to concieve of a world without elves, and, of course, he knew how good elves were at hiding. "Monster? There are monsters on Earth, as well?" He nodded at the explanation of 'vacation spot', and then frowned slightly. "Why do they not simply enjoy the beauty that winter may provide?" It didn't make a lot of sense to him.

"Horses with stripes? Birds that do not fly, but swim, instead? This is a strange place, indeed." He shook his head, blond hair shifting over his shoulders, only to be smoothed out by Schuldig's fingers. He gave him a little glance over his shoulder, and then focused on the map once more.

"That is hard to believe." His eyes scanned the entire map. "It is not possible that so much land go go unnoticed. Someone, maybe the Rangers, would have known." He shook his head, and then gasped softly as Schuldig's mouth lightly touched his ear. Honestly believing it had been a mistake on the redhead's part, he pulled away and thought nothing more of it. Or, at least, tried to. But his breathing had picked up a tiny bit.

"Tell me more about...." He turned around, gestured basically at random, anything to get his mind away from the thoughts he was having. "This strange land. Rand McNally." He pointed to the logo of the people who printed the map.
