Caspian had never thought himself much of a leader. He didn't have the self-confidence, he believed, to take up the position and be effective. But, time and again, he was put in the position of authority, and time and again, he rose to the challenge, his yearning to do what was right outweighing his trepidations about his capability.

And so when it fell to him to lead this ragamuffin group through the labyrinth, he prepared for the journey as best as he could. While he was under the impression that every journey through the maze was different, fraught with dangers unlike the ones laid out before, he spoke to those he could about what would befall the group, and took it all into account. There was also the subject of provisions, as the journey could take days, even weeks to complete. That was a harder task to undertake, but from the three packs at his feet, it was fairly clear that Caspian had done all he could to ensure that, at the very least, the group would not starve.

So now, all the young king could do was wait, sitting on a low wall near the entrance, watching the sun rise over the changed city - which he really didn't have the mental capacity to ponder at the moment - and watched for his companions to arrive.

King, but who was counting. Caspian greeted everyone as they approached, kissing the hands of the ladies and clasping the elf's warmly. Then he looked over the group. Himself and Legolas, he knew, would be doing most of the fighting, if it came to that, but the blonde seemed to at least think that she could hold her own, from the way she carried herself, not to mention the motley array of weaponry she carried with her.

Shouldering his sacks, Caspian pulled a compass out of his pocket and checked their heading, stretching to see exactly where the castle they were aiming for lay. Though, in reality, who knew if that compass would even work inside the labyrinth?

"Perhaps one of us should take the front, and the other the rear," he said in a low voice to Legolas, looking at the ladies. "With as many strange and unusual people as there are here, I'm sure they have talents I'm unaware of, but I'd still feel more secure with the ladies protected."
