It was actually a good thing that the Cullen boy had led Jacob around yesterday when he first arrived in this dream world. Otherwise the poor boy would have probably ended up in someone dorm other than his in a desperate attempt to find the right one. They all looked so similar but for the numbers posted near the doors. The only problem was, Once he had left his dorm this morning to explore a bit of the alien landscape and abundant amount of things to do, he had neglected to really get a good look at what the dorm looked like so that he may recognize it again. Also, remembering his number would have been helpful. That was careless of him and a bit too airheaded for his taste.

Unfortunately for him, once Jacob thought he had figured out an aspect of this world, their captor went and changed it on him. If he was a little unstable in the head it would have been maddening, but really, he just found it funny. There was no rhyme or reason to this place which was ridiculous and hilarious at the same time. Ah well, at least he would never be board.

Passing by one of the odd shaped dorms, Jacob slowed and passed the front doors very slowly, hoping to recognize something, anything that may give him a poke of recollection. Something caught his quickly and startlingly as he felt and heard a loud thump coming from one of the walls of the dorm nearest to him. The vibrations led him to believe that something heavy had just been thrust against the interior wall.

When he neared to investigate, another unidentified object was thrust against the wall followed by a voice; a female voice. Was she in distress? Jacob put his hand against the wall to feel for another thump but instead he heard the female voice more distinctive, as if they were directly on the other side. The voice called out and yes, there was definitely distress in that tone.

"Hey, hello, are you okay in there?" Jacob went to the front door and knocked. "Is everything okay? Do you need some help?"

As the song switched into a sort of B interlude and picked up it's pace River began to move her feet faster and in more complicated steps than she was doing before. River had to hang on to the edge of her dress to be sure it wouldn't get tangled as she moved. She laughed as she saw Jacob suddenly stiff dancing. Though he was not the best partner for dancing River didn't care. She was having too much fun with him. When he suddenly step on one of her bare feet River paid it no mind and just incorporated a move to put herself out of his way while still flowing into the dance she was doing.

As the song in her head began to wind down to it's close she let go of her dress, raised her hands closer to her head and closed her eyes as she finished the dance. Ending it with another fast twirl that looked as if her feet weren't even touching the ground. She let the lingering feeling of the dance sit in her for a moment before she finally let her hands down and opened her eyes at Jacob again.

River smiled when he complimented her and offered his exaggerated statement. She laughed and ran back over to him. Standing on her toes she threw her arms around him to give him a hug almost knocking him over. "Thank you so much for everything!" Jacob was suddenly her favorite person at the Labryinth. She was afriad she was going to be lost and alone forever. River considered herself lucky to have him come find her.

River was beautiful. Her dancing, her smile, her simple and pure happiness for that moment of unshackled movement and dancing. Jacob was enjoying watching her more than he had expected to. It wasn't just the fact that she was very good at what she was doing but for the fact that her enjoyment of it was reminiscent of that of a child's. And also, just an hour ago this girl was so upset that she had nearly destroyed her dorm made this scene all the more amazing. She was a hard one to figure out, this River Tam. Would she even let him try to? He hoped so, she was becoming more interesting than some of the things in this strange world they were in.

River was leading up to her grand final, Jacob could tell for all of the extravagant motions. When she finally stopped and looked at Jacob, the boy had a mixture of happiness and astonishment on his face. Her joy was filling him up as well. He actually laughed out loud when she bounded to him and threw her arms around his neck. That, he did not expect at all, because of all of the previous flinches that she gave him whenever he had touched her before.

Jacob had to throw his foot out behind him to keep from falling backward and taking them both down to the grassy floor. He managed to steady himself though, and reciprocated the hug by putting his hands safely on her sides in an nonthreatening position. He didn't want to scare her off, but he wanted to embrace her; to really wrap his arms around her and hold tight. He liked the reality of her being so close, and didn't want that feeling to go away. Reality in a place like this was reassuring.

His own thought surprised him, bringing a blush to his face. He shouldn't have had that in his mind, not about someone so vulnerable and needing help. But it WAS an innocent thought, so why did it make him blush? Confused by his own thoughts, Jacob broke eye contact with River and looked down, but he did not push away or drop his hands. She seemed to be okay with it, so he would stay just the way he was until she moved away.

"Now I know why dancing was the one thing that you wanted. It all looks so natural on you, like you're supposed to be doing it. Are you a dancer? If you aren't a dancer where you're from, your world is missing out."

Noticing the wildness of the dancer's hair after her impromptu recital, Jacob moved one of his hands up from her waist to her head and moved several stray locks that were clinging to her lashes and mouth. He wasn't thinking. They were in such close proximity at that moment that he wasn't considering her previous apprehension to touch. "The wind did a number on your hair. You look like a wild woman now." He was grinning now, from the side of his mouth, looking sly and cute at once.

River smiled at Jacob's thoughts. She liked Jacob and was more than thankful for everything he had done for her. She wanted to let him in. She wanted so badly to scream everything out to him. But she couldn't. No matter how hard she tried she could never say anything about what happened. Not even to Simon.

Her mind suddenly went a little sad until she felt his surprise at her hugging him. She began to pull back a little, realizing how different she had shifted around him. Before she was still on edge, both from worry over being lost from Simon and as to who this Jacob was. Now that she was calmer and able to read him more she could easily see that he was no threat to her.

His thoughts of embracing her caught her off guard. She had never heard them from anyone but Simon. unconciously she tilted her head a bit to the side, and fought the urge to question why he suddenly became so red in the face. Hearing him think of not moving until she did suddenly made her rather shy and blush. Confused by her own sudden reaction, she looked away until the words coming out of his mouth interrupted her thoughts.

She smiled at first glad that he liked her dancing but suddenly went a bit sad when he asked if she was a dancer. "No I'm not." she looked down and shook her head. She wished she was. She wished she could go back and change it so she never went to the Academy and instead pursued dance.

She looked back up at him when she felt a hand move from her waist. She didn't flinch away like she did before; instead, she smiled at his touch, feeling the warmth that was hidden deep inside. Though River wanted to know what it was that made him different she forced herself to forget about it momentairly; and instead buried her face in his shoulder, suddenly not wanting him to leave her alone again.
