Pandora was bored. With her, that was never a good thing. It led to bad things. People got hurt when the vampire was bored. She had been dropped into the middle of a fantastic ball the night before, but it hadn't lasted nearly as long as she would have liked. Afterward she'd been shown to a room that was less than impressive but that had no windows and allowed no natural light to enter. She slept like the dead for most of the next day woke just before the sun went down. She hadn't seen the sun in two thousand years and still had no desire to.

Rising from the bed she had been given to sleep in, she knew instinctively that the sun was on its way down. She showered and dressed in the clothing provided in her closet. It was nothing as lavish and elegant as her ballgown the night before, but they were suitable clothes. She selected a dark gray sundress and a pair of black heels. She left her hair down in the usual waves and decided against any sort of makeup. She didn't really need it to begin with, but she liked to accentuate her eyes or cheekbones at times.

Leaving her room after the sun was completely set, she wandered down the hall of the dorm she'd been assigned to and exited into the stifling evening air. She stuck her room key in one pocket of the sundress and then stopped walking. She hadn't had the chance to explore the city the day before. She'd only seen bits and pieces when she was directed to her room after the ball. It was a joke. The place looked nothing like it had during the Renaissance, and Pandora knew that was the look they were going for. Whoever they were. Probably that King she hadn't had a chance to speak to.

Pandora had no trouble seeing things in the dark. Her eyes picked up things a mortal's could not. The firelight from torches wasn't necessary, but as she could see others moving about, she knew it was vital for them. She shook her head in mild disgust and walked toward the main building. She walked faster than a human, but generally not on purpose. She'd made it her life's work to appear mortal. Tonight, however, she cared little for appearances. She pulled open the door to the main building and several things hit her at once.

One was the smells of food coming from a set of doors down the hall. The next was the smell of chlorine and water. Other smells assailed her, but she paid them little mind. As she didn't eat, she ignored the food and followed her senses to the indoor pool. No one else was about and she hadn't been swimming in such a long time. She peeled the sundress away and draped it over one of the lounge chairs that surrounded the rectangular body of water. Her heels were similarly discarded, and with nothing left to remove, she dove into the water.

"You arrived in the pool, then?" Pandora was teasing her. She knew that when the girl said "here" she really meant the city itself, not her exact position right now. She smirked and tipped her head back to wet it again, keeping the generous curls under control.

"It was interesting. Heartbreaking sometimes, and fascinating at others." Pandora had a lot of pain in her life. If she grew close to anyone, they were vampires. She couldn't handle befriending humans who would ultimately die while she remained youthful and immortal.

"When I was embraced? Yes. It is impossible to describe the way one feels when completely drained of life's blood. And then forced to drink such a viscous fluid. Once restored and embraced, the blood is sweet and inviting, but it is torture the first time." She took a swim from one side of the pool to the other.

The human girl was starting to bore her. It really wasn't much fun getting to know someone you already knew everything about from their books. She sighed and headed for the steps of the pool, gracefully exiting and wringing out her curly hair. "I should be going. Enjoy your swim." She pulled her sundress over her head and slipped her heels on, twiddled her fingers at the witch and then pushed through the doors.
