New Blood
Who: Erik and Seven
When: Week Thirteen: Monday Feb 23rd - late evening
Where: the circus
Warnings: possibly language, creepiness
Erik never really got tired of driving. Whenever he got on the road to travel a significant distance from one place to another, he somehow craved the exhaustion that came from the sound of tires slipping over the asphalt, the wind in his ears-- no matter the weather, he generally had at least one window down enough to be able to hear it-- and making very few stops. His life did not have to be displeasing for him to want to move along. Sometimes, all it took was the change of one month to the next.
It was late when he crossed the boundary from the two-lane back road he'd been on to a town called Rinth. His truck, a beat-up navy blue Ford 150 with a topper over the bed, was loaded down with all his earthly possessions, which didn't amount to much but did include poisonous snakes and scorpions, rolled along a picturesque street that surrounded a lake once he was into town. Not bad. He didn't care that much about the scenery, to be honest: it was simply there.
After some driving around, he located the circus, which he'd planned to find. He didn't know a great deal about it, and he knew nothing about the town, but he'd found that most circuses didn't mind adding an act like his. It wasn't something people saw every day, and that kept him employed.
Erik parked in the lot, which still contained some vehicles despite the late hour, and headed inside, paying the admission without really looking at the ticket-taker. He rolled his shoulders slightly as he walked, forced to admit that it was nice to be out of the car after so many hours driving. He paused at a booth or two to inquire about whether they might be hiring, and he was directed more deeply into the grounds. He didn't mind what might seem to some to be a run-around; he was here and he had all night. He would find the owner or manager of the circus or they would find him, he felt sure.
