Her eyelids fluttered closed, and she wrapped her fingers around the back of his neck. She felt the rest of the universe slipping away, perfectly content in the moment, until a jeering catcall from one of the mechanics jarred Rosie back into reality.
She tried to glare at the kid, but the absurdity of it all stopped her. She burst into giggles, and got to her feet. "Marius! Get your scrawny ass back into that parts locker and...uh...just get out of my sight!" she shouted, her stern words contradicted by the laughter that escaped with each syllable. Marius gave her a half-assed salute and some laughter of his own before disappearing into the parts locker where the still was kept.
Rosie turned back to John. "Sorry about that," she said simply. She paused, long and awkward, before reaching out to take her companion by the hand. "He's a good kid, though. Smart. Why am I telling you this?" Another giggle.
