She wouldn't have to ease the boredom for too long, because Alphonse Elric was one of the least boring people on the planet. And unfortunately (for her) he had caught sight of the woman and her firefly. Really, Mustang should have done a better job teaching Al about stranger danger, because he would have walked right up to a dangerous killing machine and just said:
"Hello."
Oops.
"Is that a firefly?" A firefly in space, who would have guessed it? But the boy was transfixed. He wasn't very tall, barely over five feet and with wide eyes the color of bronze, hair the color of gold framing his face. The length of it was up in a bun today, expertly twisted there by fingers that could manipulate all manner of substances through Alchemy. And today, thankfully, he was dressed casually (Edward had hidden his uniform, though Al didn't know it, so he was forced into civilian clothes) in a t-shirt and jeans, along with sneakers. They were modern clothes, something the boy had never worn before, and they felt funny but.. well, they were comfortable! It was a nice change.
Alphonse had no idea, of course, that this was the woman he'd met over the network. He didn't often associate people on the network with people he'd actually met, until the physical connection was made. Not that he'd met many people on the network yet.
The bright, brilliant smile he offered the woman, however? Well, it couldn't be construed as anything but friendly. Al was far too friendly. One would have thought the military would have beaten it out of him by now.. but Mustang and Hawkeye had gone to great lengths to protect him and maintain the young man's idealistic outlook, and his innocence.
