Oh. Chuck help him. She was crying. What did he do? Oh-- okay, her arm was around him and she had her head on his shoulder. Was this hugging? Was she hugging him? Was he supposed to hug her in return? He didn't know what to do with a crying woman.
Slowly, the archangel moved his closest arm out to wrap around her back and gently hold her in against him. Was that the right thing? Was that what he should be doing? He felt like he should say 'There, there', wasn't that what people did?
No, that sounded stupid.
Thankfully, Charlie was speaking a moment later, so the topic could turn to something the angel did know about.
"Rowena was killed as well, prior to Lucifer's killing Crowley." That much he knew, he'd been there for that. Dean had been the one to ultimately tell him about Crowley dying. Castiel didn't know if he was somehow pleased by the demon's death.. or saddened. He was leaning towards saddened and that was a strange feeling for him.
"But family is family." He agreed. "And we are family." Charlie and Castiel, they were family. Dean and Sam were family. Mary was family. It was some.. twisted little proxy-family, but it was the very best sort. And it was something Cas was proud of.
