Concrit meme - Take 80!
Time for our monthly How's My Driving meme!

- Comment to this post with a list of your characters. You may add any commentary you'd like, such as things you'd wish to get feedback on.

- Reply anonymously to the other players, giving concrit on how they're playing/their characterization/their interactions/etc.

- Flat-out negative comments will get screened/frozen/deleted, and can be grounds for banning if they're bad enough. Game rules apply here as well, so don't use it as an excuse to insult others. How can you tell the difference between giving crit and bashing? The second has no purpose. Giving crit means you want things to improve - by clearing out a misunderstanding of a character's actions, by helping a player manage activity better, by pointing out where characterization might be off, etc. If there is a situation with a player that's really problematic and would start big trouble here, consider taking it to us mods instead.

- Simply giving positive feedback is just fine! Of course, we encourage these to be as elaborate as possible, as it's always better to get an idea of why a character/player is doing things right.

This is non-mandatory! If you aren't comfortable with the HMD, or don't feel like posting every time, or whatever the reason is, you don't have to post to it. However, don't be that person who gives crit to others and then doesn't open up for crit themselves.

On that same line of thought - we're a small game! If nobody comments, then the meme doesn't work. If you receive comments, try to leave at least one of your own to somebody else. It's always better if we have many replies, and various POVs.

Let me start by saying you play all your characters well, this isn't an issue about characterization, but I wonder if you wouldn't benefit from playing less characters than you do. It seems as it is you almost always prioritize Aramis and Merlin's tags and boomerang tag with them for days while you often wait days, even weeks sometimes, with getting back to your other threads even once.

I know you've been busy irl, that The Musketeers is an ongoing series and that you recently got a new castmate for Merlin and I understand that's exciting, I do! But to me it seems this isn't a recent issue but an almost constant thing. It's to the point where I feel I maybe shouldn't bother pursuing CR with your other characters because you don't seem to particularly want it.

Looking back at Aramis' latest updates in the blizzard logs I think it's telling that so few people replied to them: it's discouraging when you keep posting new threads for one character, encouraging people to tag them while ignoring most of your other threads. If you scaled back the number of characters you play I think you wouldn't be so constantly bogged down by threads and you'd get more threads with the characters you're most interested in playing.

I'm sorry for the tl;dr! I like playing with you and I like all your characters, which is why I'm writing this. I hope it doesn't come across as too harsh, as that isn't the intention.

No no it doesn't, that makes sense. I do have drops to consider, especially with my wanting to app Shin-ah (as said on plurk/it's even on the reserves) because of, well, precisely what you said. Same reason why I apped Aang, whose being less active is just far too noticeable and lets down his entire cast, so it wasn't fair to keep him when I couldn't give him the attention he needed.

I... actually figured the lack of replies was simply because Ana's characters had just returned so we had threads ongoing, Celen's away so her charas don't count, and Robin had them covered and we chose to spam on the following log? The rest aren't really so compatible with him - charas like Torin who doesn't really know him (and we know Aramis hates their lot), Elsa who was afk, Wan who doesn't know him either, etc. I don't know what the point of naming that is, just that I got a different impression of it? If anything I'd argue against my other characters not being tagged for this...

Which I agree is an issue, and much more noticeable now that it's ETERNAL UPDATE TIME. Same thing happened with Mako when LoK was last airing, the whole cast kept jumping all over the new developments and we had constant updates. Or back when Neal still existed in OUAT, we had many updates and things that stole our attention at the time... A mix of this + Merlin/Aramis being far far stronger muses and extremely easy characters to play means that they're constantly all over everything, and the fact that the casts have mixed doesn't help, as it only makes their activity higher and means they have more and more plots to go.

If it... helps at all, my current oldest tags are all from them too? I take days to get to their backlog at times too. Right now I've had less tags than I did in a very long time (think going from 200-230 on any given day, to 120-150), a number that to me is very manageable (I can get to that amount in what, two days) and the only reason I haven't tackled my backlog properly was a) having to do stuff irl and b) getting caught up reading AnY. I'll make sure to get up to date on things, especially with a new log and changes to play out coming up!

All that said, which I promise isn't to say oh my GOD I HAVE NEVER PRIORITIZED AN ARAMIS THREAD IN MY LIFE!111!1 /CLUTCHES CHEST but more to give an idea of where I stand on this and what my threads status is like, as I mentioned first of all, I do agree this is an issue and did have drops considered, since keeping weaker muses means they suffer a lot from this kind of thing.

At the very least, there's only a month left of Musketeers and our hype should die down a little by then without that urgency of oh god this one plot happened WE WANT TO EXPAND ON IT IMMEDIATELY LET'S GO, and help even out things. I definitely do want CR with my other charas, even if I can't play them as regularly, and I'll make sure to keep this in mind and improve the activity of the non-musketeers/merlin boys.
