Concrit meme - Take 78!
Time for our monthly How's My Driving meme!

- Comment to this post with a list of your characters. You may add any commentary you'd like, such as things you'd wish to get feedback on.

- Reply anonymously to the other players, giving concrit on how they're playing/their characterization/their interactions/etc.

- Flat-out negative comments will get screened/frozen/deleted, and can be grounds for banning if they're bad enough. Game rules apply here as well, so don't use it as an excuse to insult others. How can you tell the difference between giving crit and bashing? The second has no purpose. Giving crit means you want things to improve - by clearing out a misunderstanding of a character's actions, by helping a player manage activity better, by pointing out where characterization might be off, etc. If there is a situation with a player that's really problematic and would start big trouble here, consider taking it to us mods instead.

- Simply giving positive feedback is just fine! Of course, we encourage these to be as elaborate as possible, as it's always better to get an idea of why a character/player is doing things right.

This is non-mandatory! If you aren't comfortable with the HMD, or don't feel like posting every time, or whatever the reason is, you don't have to post to it. However, don't be that person who gives crit to others and then doesn't open up for crit themselves.

On that same line of thought - we're a small game! If nobody comments, then the meme doesn't work. If you receive comments, try to leave at least one of your own to somebody else. It's always better if we have many replies, and various POVs.

Anna [info]unfreezing

I haven't been around much, but now that I'm off hiatus, I'm really pumped to get back into things full-swing! My current goal is to start tagging out more with Anna (instead of doing top-levels everywhere), because I feel like I've been a little weak in that area. The other big point I'm trying to keep in mind: I can really get carried away with silly/ridiculous-ness, so I'm trying to keep myself balanced with Anna's silliness and her serious side. If I DO take it too far with her (or not far enough?!??!), please let me know!

I think that, as far as characterization goes, your Anna is spot on. It's lovely to see how you extrapolate on her character and fill in those blanks. I know that holidays got the best of most everyone, so I'm excited to see her thrown back into everything and looking forward to seeing her CR progress. For what it's worth, I think you've maintained a good level of ridiculousness/silliness without ever pushing it to being too far.

I will agree with your statement that expanding beyond just top comments would definitely be a good thing. It's a good way to control the level of your own activity, if you're tagging others rather than leaving it up to fates on who will tag you. Especially as, lately, the top comments posted seemed a little passive at times, and made it difficult to tag as a result. I think specifically of the top comments she put up for the bridge event, in that you and Anna weren't around and thus you came a little late, but rather than toss her to others and work things out, you posted late to have others come to her, instead, and dictate the level of connection and established AU CR between characters. I think tagging around with her instead and having her bounce off others that way will help you feel more comfortable and more at ease with the level of tagging and, as mentioned, would allow you to control your own activity levels and keep yourself from feeling overwhelmed.

Thanks so much for your feedback! I seriously appreciate it. I also completely agree with your entire second paragraph -- I realized, not RIGHT at first, but a while after I posted, that I kind of regretted doing so. Know what I mean? I think I let myself get intimidated because I wasn't around for most of the event and kind of threw out the first thing I could think of. After not rping for a few weeks, it was kind of a horrible idea. But yes, my goal (aside from getting back to decent activity, of course; this week has not exactly been good for that) is to do exactly that -- throw her around at other people a little more and do less of the "here's a thing, now tag it!" approach. And you're absolutely correct that it would help me control my activity level way more too.

Again, thank you for taking time out to tell me this. Hearing it from someone else is awesome motivation to be accountable and put it into practice. Hopefully I won't let you down!

I've worked really hard from last time to try to spread my characters out and touch on new CR/CR I've let fall to the wayside, and stick with threads - as before I felt like I was really dropping the ball in terms of having my characters actually be involved with others. So I'd love feedback on that?

Additionally, Sakura is still brand new and would love to hear anything about her, now that I've settled in with her a little more.

Sakura is wonderful, and it's lovely to see you playing a CLAMP character again after Himawari's departure. Her voice is clear in her threads and her characterization is spot on.

As for your other characters, they are all great as usual, and I've definitely noticed an improvement with involving certain muses more. Especially Hook. It's nice to see more of him around. Watching him talk with others and opening up a little about himself has been very entertaining. It reminds me how much I enjoy seeing you play him.

I'm sorry for not having much else to say, but the truth is, you have done a great job with all of your muses, which is impressive considering how many characters you play. Keep it up!

eheheh thank you so much, anon! I'm having lots of fun with Sakura so far, although I'm still kind of working out how to have her voice sound, just so she doesn't sound too much the same as c!Sakura (although similar enough since, lol, well, clones) but also distinct from Himawari, as well. I feel like it's still a work in progress but I'm feeling more confident the more I play her. So I'm glad it's coming through for other, as well! And dude, I hear you on the whole "playing a CLAMP character again" thing - my life is an empty void without Hima.

I'm also pleased to know that my efforts with Hook are being noticed. I still have a lot more I could be doing with him and I'm determined to do so (the problem is I keep getting derailed with Porthos and Arthur feels, those punks), but I'm definitely determined to expand his CR and have him open up beyond just castmates.

Thank you so much for your kind words. ♥

Steve Rogers ([info]you_know_me)

I've been keeping in mind all the things brought to my attention last time and working on those accordingly. Especially my activity, taking cues, and communication with other players OOC since those were areas that needed the most improvement. With Steve, I've been really practicing with his voice and I feel a lot more comfortable than I have been in the past with how he sounds and his approach to people. But as always, if there is room for improvement (and I'm sure there is), please let me know! I appreciate all the feedback everyone has offered in the past and I'm always trying to better myself for the game ^^ Thank you!

Not suuuuuper confident in general over the past month, so I'm very open to any feedback. Anne is new of course so I'm still trying to find her voice and been working on different things with each character of late trying to see what works and what doesn't for me, so comments either way are appreciated.

I'm sad to hear that you're not feeling confident in your characters, as they all seem utterly perfect, as always. I'm always so impressed with your characters and their characterizations. Each one is distinct and on point, and you always give such thoughtful and entertaining tags. I never find it difficult to tag you back or plot with you or carry threads with you. From the threads I've played with you and stalked, there seems to be a real level of comfort with that (or at least the illusion of it) and it's been a complete joy to watch your characters grow and adapt and build upon CR. I'm looking forward to seeing where they go in the future, as well.

I have absolutely nothing bad to say about Anne. Thus far, she seems utterly wonderful and you seem as if you've been playing her since forever. These types of characters seem to work well for you, as she's refined but never uptight, and you do a great job of tempering her queen-ness in a world like Kiseki in a way that seems natural for her to react to. She's still very much a queen, but it's been interesting to see where she gets lax and where she still remains upright and dignified. I'm looking forward to seeing more of her, as well.

All your characters are lovely as always. Looking forward to seeing more of them in general!

I've been trying to be more consistent with my tagging, even though all the rl shenanigans meant I wasn't able to tag for a while. I was also struggling a lot with Constance, but lately I've been feeling a bit more confident with her, so I'd love feedback on her especially! But of course all feedback is appreciated.

I honestly have no crit to offer, this comment is just going to be general praise thrown your way because all your characters are so fun and so distinct. I think the effort you've put in with Constance has already shown leaps and bounds, and with it, you seem more comfortable with her character and voice. It is honestly so fantastic to see her tagging around, building on some CR, and seeing you really make the effort both oocly and icly. And I think it's paying off: she seems very clear in her voice/characterization, you've already got some great foundations for CR that doesn't just rely on the boys and Anne, and her interactions seem organic and not just "I'm forcing myself to play and tag to get to AC" kind of deal.

As for others, I only have glowing praise as always. Jamie was an utter delight in this event. Stiles and Birthday are a great dash of fun and ridiculousness that you perfectly temper with deeper feeling and understanding so that they never present as merely a one-trick, loud pony.

And what can be said of Bucky that hasn't already been said time and again? He's just wonderful.

It's so great to see you tagging around and being more present with your characters, and I can't wait to see what they all get up to in the future! I wish I could offer some feedback beyond just praise, but I honestly have no crit to offer, as I said. So keep up the great work!
