[It starts when the sun goes down. The first sign that something is wrong is the water pipe in the hotel lobby breaking and flooding the floor. This, in and of itself, wouldn’t be much of a problem… except it looks like someone has cut the electrical wires that are now sparking dangerously, only a few feet above the floor. There are similar instances of sabotage all over the island: doors locking behind you, wire traps in the park that’ll fire an arrow at you if you accidentally trigger them, the bolts in bicycles loosened so they’re in a danger of falling apart if you drive them – little things that might cause you to be hurt.

And if you’re really unlucky… you might hear something move in the shadows, and when you turn to look, they’re materializing around you; human-shaped, black-clothed warrior spirits, holding a katana and hiding behind a demonic mask. Or perhaps you will hear an incessant buzzing sound that just won’t stop until you give in…

For the next few days, dear Kiseki residents, it’s best to be extra careful, because there’s a fox spirit around to cause chaos, and he won’t be easily stopped.]

	[He'll manage to block them, mostly because they're not really attacking him on full force, right now -- the nogitsune still wants to talk to him.] See... they're more than enough for you. [Shrugs] Not particularly. It's chaos I want... chaos, strife and pain. If there are those who can't defend themselves... well, they deserve whatever fate they get.

[He starts walking, to the side, almost circling Arthur, but at the same time making sure he stays out of his reach.] But don't worry, I didn't send them to anyone defenseless, this time. In fact... I think he can defend himself better than most. I just wonder... for how long?

What do you hope to gain from all of this? Just-- [flinches a little when he moves too suddenly, disturbing his wound, and stumbles back a little, hands shaking as he tries to overcome whatever pain he might be feeling, even when he knows he's ill-prepared for these magical shenanigans]

Stiles-- this isn't you. [right? surely you're not that good of an actor]

[Suddenly, he's crossing the distance between them in quick strides, grabbing Arthur's hand that's holding the sword in a vice-tight grip, raising it above his head so Arthur won't be able to swing it at him.]

It is, now. [The words might be cryptic, but what he says next should make it clear he's definitely not the same person who was here, before.] And what do I hope to gain? I've already gained it. All the pain you're feeling, from the wound, from everything I said, from seeing people be hurt... all that pain is gathered inside you. And now, you're going to give it to me.

[The nogitsune feeds on pain, after all, and like all animals, he's always hungry. So he lifts his free hand, pressing it against Arthur's cheek, black lines appearing there, flowing from Arthur to the nogitsune as he drains that pain. For Arthur, it'll feel like draining, too, in a similar way that a vampire drinking blood would drain energy from their prey. But at the same time, draining that pain will also make the wound hurt less.]

[He struggles, of course, to get away from him and his grip and doesn't quite flinch at the touch but is definitely glaring up at a storm when he can't get free -- and even if he notices the pain dulling, he's more concerned about how drained he suddenly feels, slumping a little bit, although keeping his grip tight on his sword, trying to break free from his grip in turn]

[With a little wave of his hand, he indicates for one of the oni to kick Arthur to his knee, making him fall down again.]

Not this time. [He waves another oni near him, taking it by the arm, preparing to teleport away -- but not before some last words.] Think of it this way: at least you're still alive... if this existence here can be called alive.

[Gives him one last smile before the oni disappears, along with the nogitsune.]
