action || all day
[Halloween dawns a bright and sunny day – crisp and cool, but pleasant. There are appropriate decorations everywhere you look today – jack-o-lanterns, cartoony ghost decorations hanging from trees, candy apples & candy corn, and all that cheery Halloween décor.

The most notable decoration for the day is that you are being haunted… but don’t worry! You have a new friend who’s following after you! These little spirits take the form of an animal that fits your personality – anywhere from a mighty tiger to a little vole – and they aren’t going away any time soon. They’ll interact with you but are impossible to banish. In fact, trying to run away from them just makes them all the more eager to stay close!

If you’re paying attention, however, you’ll know that maybe not everything is well. The trees that have been growing around Kiseki ever since the flood receded are beginning to bloom, slowly, those strange lantern-like plants glowing as the day progresses. Don’t pass too close. Remember – it feeds off negative energy, and it won’t make you feel great.

You know what you’re meant to do in these situations. You’ve been warned of this. You better start that hunt. And don’t worry – your new friends are here to help! If you head into the forest to fight or meet a loose creature elsewhere, your little spirit guide will transform accordingly – to a weapon, to a shield, or perhaps fluctuating between the two. You have options, of course - you can go looking for the monsters, hang back and risk being surprised, or just sit back and let others take care of the mess. Maybe you just want to hang out with your new friend, after all.

The spirits will linger until they are no longer needed. Once they deem that all is safe and that you are alright on your own, they will start to fade until they disappear completely.]

I've told you about Maze.

You have. I thought you her master and she your servant, that is all, and that consequently she would work for you.

["Worked alongside" makes it sound so equal, see.]

[Almost snorts.]

I'll call her my "servant" the day I want her to castrate me with those daggers of hers. [He's exaggerating: Maze would never hurt him. But he's not risking it.] She does work for me, though.

[That is such crude, uncivilised language, tut. Sebastian tilts his head (in that way he does when he's being - wait for it - passive-aggressive and judgmental).]

How generous of you to be so respectful towards her, sir. Despite the difference in status.

[He doesn't quite get why those comments bug him so much.]

That difference isn't my doing. [He can't help being... well, the son of God and all.]

[How many things do Lucifer get on an every day, tbqh... (No, jokes about Lucifer being dim-witted will never stop being funny).]

Of course not. And if circumstance or chance places you above others, that is reason not to revel in it?

[How egalitarian and/or canting.]

I don't revel in it! [Leave his narcissistic tendencies alone.]

[Head. tilt. That was his point exactly, you complete imbecile. In the most pleasant "I'm trying to be over-the-top about just humouring you but I'm not sure you'll even catch on to that" tone,]

So you have made perfectly clear, sir, yes.

[It really is lucky whatever's going on with Sebastian doesn't compel him to share his every thought. If it did, Lucifer would get to hear something along the lines of:

"What truly cruel irony, seeing some of the people given the right to revel in their own superiority by circumstance or chance, through no effort of their own. At some point, certainly, stupidity should un-earn such a person their high position."]

[So he's a little overdefensive around you, can you blame him, really?]

And quit calling me sir! I have a name, and unlike my Father's, you are more than welcome to take it in vain.

[Yes, but see, Sebastian does the same thing with the Supreme Kai of Time: calls her by title out of sheer spite. He opens his mouth...]

["That is quite generous of you. Thank you, sir."]

Of course. As you wish... Mr Morningstar? Or is that also too formal for your preferences?

[............]

[There is no real point to this 2/2 comment. Its sole purpose is to demonstrate how Sebastian's smile remains exactly the same as he wonders what the hell is going on.]

[What the hell, indeed.]

It'll do. [Hm. How strange,] You're oddly... [Complacent? Obedient?]

[...] [..................] Do a cartwheel.

[But he obeys.

...Well, because he's Sebastian, a simple cartwheel doesn't even register as enough. Sebastian does this, sending his vulture up into the air as he starts the sequence - and instead of landing after the first aerial cartwheel he thrusts out a hand and uses the vulture as leverage once to remain in the air while he performs the subsequent spins.]

Will that do? [Ask him to repeat that and he swears to... well, not to Satan... that he will take it as an excuse to ~accidentally~ kick you in the face.]

How uncharacteristically insightful of you, Mr Morningstar, [OH THE BURN] but you will be relieved to know obedience comes easy to me.

Submitting because you want to do it and doing it because you have to are two very different things.

It's only the difference between safe, sane and consensual, and fifty shades.

[......Does Sebastian strike anyone as the kind of person who is up to date on modern ideas of consent or modern erotic literature?

Here's a look of utter incomprehension, Lucifer.]

...That rather proves my point, I suppose.

[About being well acquainted, that is.]
