[Halloween dawns a bright and sunny day – crisp and cool, but pleasant. There are appropriate decorations everywhere you look today – jack-o-lanterns, cartoony ghost decorations hanging from trees, candy apples & candy corn, and all that cheery Halloween décor.

The most notable decoration for the day is that you are being haunted… but don’t worry! You have a new friend who’s following after you! These little spirits take the form of an animal that fits your personality – anywhere from a mighty tiger to a little vole – and they aren’t going away any time soon. They’ll interact with you but are impossible to banish. In fact, trying to run away from them just makes them all the more eager to stay close!

If you’re paying attention, however, you’ll know that maybe not everything is well. The trees that have been growing around Kiseki ever since the flood receded are beginning to bloom, slowly, those strange lantern-like plants glowing as the day progresses. Don’t pass too close. Remember – it feeds off negative energy, and it won’t make you feel great.

You know what you’re meant to do in these situations. You’ve been warned of this. You better start that hunt. And don’t worry – your new friends are here to help! If you head into the forest to fight or meet a loose creature elsewhere, your little spirit guide will transform accordingly – to a weapon, to a shield, or perhaps fluctuating between the two. You have options, of course - you can go looking for the monsters, hang back and risk being surprised, or just sit back and let others take care of the mess. Maybe you just want to hang out with your new friend, after all.

The spirits will linger until they are no longer needed. Once they deem that all is safe and that you are alright on your own, they will start to fade until they disappear completely.]

[He's normally not very demonstrative but desperate times calls for desperate measures and this is severely desperate. The kitten's still buried under a mass of soft cotton, unable to wiggle free, so Ciel takes that chance and launches in Sebastian's direction, shoving at his torso. Nothing to see here, let us flee and bond like all proper master-servant pairs.

	[It's. it's like a tiny ant trying to move you. Sebastian just kind of remains where he is, craning his head down to watch Ciel strugggle, unhelpfully not moving an inch like an oaf. [He really should have expected this but didn't, so Ciel ends up doing nothing more useful than yelping and grabbing onto Sebastian's shoulder for support.

Kitten, on the other hand, takes this as a blatant attack on its soul bff and literally phases through the blanket with an angry hiss, baring its teeth at Sebastian before springing straight for his face. It grows maybe a tad in midair but again. Kitten.]

[This is the story of the day a kitten spirit attached itself, with the claws of all four paws, to Sebastian's face. You would think that this is painful.

It's also the story of how Sebastian makes a half-aborted attempt to recoil with a muffled, surprised sound... for about one second, before he just accepts this new state of affairs. Lifts his free hand to attempt to pet the kitty (he can't really see anything anymore, given that his entire face is covered in cat). Hello ♥ ♥ ♥

I can't find that one picture of Sebastian lying in bed covered in cats and with one over his face but you know the one.]

[He's concerned for all of two seconds until he hears what might be tiny growls coming from the kitten's teensy lungs or...Sebastian making happy noises? Honestly, they'd probably sound the same to him and he's not sure which one he'd rather it be. Either way, Sebastian's completely useless now unless Ciel steps in, so he figuratively does just that.

He releases his grip around Sebastian's collar, gripped in a moment of panic when the kitten made its sudden leap, and tries to pry the kitten off Sebastian's face. Of course, the kitten's perfectly happy where it is, so fearsome while defending Ciel's honor, so it refuses to budge.]

[Nothing. He has done absolutely nothing to deserve this. This is completely unearned suffocation.

Naturally, Ciel's laughter makes Sebastian snap out of it and realise how ridiculous he's bei... Or, you know, all Sebastian is aware of is that this is suddenly the best day of his life and he's so happy and he loves this kitten with all his heart and kittens have such awesomely sharp claws despite being so small. You can practically see the little hearts flying out of him.

He mumbles something. It's hard to make out what he's saying into the cat's fur, but it's probably not something particularly intelligent (for the record, he's trying to say something like "you are so lovely and I am so honoured to meet you, but may I please hold you in a way that's more comfortable for you..."). Possibly the kitten relaxes somewhat, because of Ciel's laughter?
