A/N: I found this on my hard drive and said, "Huh, I'd forgotten I wrote that. Wait...I don't remember posting it." And I checked, and I hadn't, which is pretty much my greatest comm related fear made manifest. ::facepalm:: I apologize profusely for most epic level of fail. I have got to remember to enter these things in ReminderFox so it can be my brain.
Angelo's eyes went wide with an innocence she didn't think was feigned; the hurt was certainly real enough, in the heartbeat before he hid it away, and Jessica immediately regretted snapping at him. Her hands moved from where she'd grabbed him to spin him around, stroking up and down his arms instead of holding him still, and she leaned forward, resting her forehead against his shoulder.
"Angelo," she sighed. "I invited you here for your company, not so you could demonstrate how well you play at being a gentleman." He tensed, and she recognized the insult too late to take the words back. Nothing to do but hope she could make up for it. "I missed you, and I wanted to spend time with you. The you I know, not you on your best behavior."
"My normal behavior isn't that bad," he protested, but the hands which had been rigid by his sides now settled on the small of her back.
"Your normal behavior doesn't include opening doors." Jessica raised her head, saw the hint of a smile on his lips, and knew she was forgiven. "Or pulling out chairs, or treating me like glass. And as much of a trial as you can be, I much prefer you to the stranger I've been dealing with this past week."
One hand slid up her back, fingers curling against her neck. "So I'm in no danger of being driven from Alexandria in disgrace?" The smile grew more obvious. "Even if I admit I just like watching you walk through doorways ahead of me?"
"Especially not then." Jessica leaned closer, body pressed full-length against his, not caring that anyone could be watching...likely would be, considering their entrance. "But the Angelo I know might be allowed liberties I could never permit a stranger."
