She was standing by the window with the lights turned off when he came in, and she thought Yuki had never looked more fragile.
He hesitated and then he said, "no lights?" and she stammered over something uncertain ending in a wavering, hesitant, "...no?" And he flushed, a deep red climbing up beneath water-clear, porcelain-pale skin.
"If you want--" She began hastily, and he shook his head, and that was that. They both stared at the floor.
It was Tohru who moved first, because--well, she'd honestly never know where she got the courage--he didn't look at her, and his eyes were so terribly bruised.
She reached for him. Before she touched him he'd found the courage to lift his head and look at her, expression full of strange, indecipherable emotion that collapsed into something pure and strong and needing, and he stepped into her arms and bent his head to her, his graceful hands cradling her head.
Tohru tipped her head back and he kissed her, holding them together, both of them hesitant and cautious and utterly full of hope. She almost trembled at the touch, half nervousness and half pleasure, and he wrapped his arms around her like she was made of glass but she couldn't stop herself from holding on as tight as she could.
She whispered to him, terribly honest and shaking with emotion, "you're wonderful." Yuki buried his face in her hair and held her, gently, his shoulders steadying and his body stilling as he took in deep breaths. And in barely a moment he was pulling back and looking into her face, and she thought she'd never been so full of emotion she couldn't find adequate words for in her life.
"And you're--" he paused, searching for words, still delicately flushed with his eyes dark and hot and not delicate at all. "--everything," he finished, gently, and Tohru leaned cautiously forward and kissed him herself.
