Zack has several lists of them: ones he started, ones he wished he had, miscellaneous ones, the usual who’s sleeping with whom ones, ones on people he knows

The he has ones on him and Sephiroth.

                Those ones were his favorites for just how absurd and untrue they could be. He and Sephiroth each had a few of their favorites; Sephiroth’s secretary actually had a notebook full of them all.

                So, when he came in to work to find that there were whispers pausing as he went by like they had before he and Sephiroth had been sent on a bullshit mission for a week, he couldn’t just shrug it off with the ease of experience and keep walking. This wasn’t just another rumor that he and Sephiroth could shrug off and he could laugh away with Angeal. That Sephiroth’s secretary wasn’t at her usual post for this early in the day just made him worry more. Pulling the door to Sephiroth’s office shut behind him he opened his mouth only to have the other man hold up a finger in his direction, silencing him.

                “What the hell is going on around here?” He demanded once Sephiroth had hung the phone up, “There’s no way they could’ve gotten hold of anything that could keep the rumor mill going this fast and hard.”

                “You could rethink that last sentence, they will likely be analyzing everything you do and say to anyone, even Hojo, for the next several days. Their topic in question is your illegitimate son.” Sephiroth said dryly.

“Really?! Why didn’t you tell me you were pregnant?” Zack exclaimed.

“Because I was waiting for the anniversary of the first time we copulated to express our undying love to tell you.” Sephiroth held a folder out to Zack, “There is apparently a new cadet that resembles you greatly.”

Reading it Zack’s eyebrows rose, upon seeing the photo of the cadet in question he burst out laughing. Meanwhile Sephiroth sat down to go through some of the papers on his desk before the other man inevitably dragged him off to meet who would likely become his new playmate, or possibly plaything.

“Cloud Strife, huh? You think they even realize he’s from a town that is the complete opposite of Gongaga? Or do you figure the bored secretary that filed the papers only looked at the hair and registered that he was from a small-ish town?” He mused, and then bolted out of his seat, “Well only one thing left to do! It’s time to meet this mysterious character the entirety of Shinra’s military has deemed my child ill-begotten child from the wrong side of the bed sheets. I mustn’t neglect my duties as a father!”

                “I hope that you realize ‘ill-begotten’ and ‘on the wrong side of the bed sheets’ imply the same thing.” Sephiroth called out as the man rushed out of the office.

                After a moment Zack poked his head back in the doorway.

                “Hey Seph, aren’t you-“

                “I’m right behind you Zack.”

                “Lead the way MacDuff.”

                “That would be my line Zack.”
