"Good," he said, turning back to tending the fruit. "It's about time you had the freedom to do things your way. If I'd had my way, I would've been first in line to tell your father where to shove his insistence on you figuring things out his way, even though he didn't have a damn clue about your powers or how they'd ever manifested in any of the women of the family he married into."

"Quite frankly, he's lucky that I didn't remember any of that when he brought me up to speed up on the Plateau, or I might've given him a big piece of my mind that I'd been biting down on for the last hundred years.
