Zumi shook her head after Yammo had finished speaking, smiling faintly. "I'd never seen so many trees in my life, until we got to the Woodland Stable. Now there's going to be a little woods right outside my front door."
She took a bite, then looked over her shoulder, to the swampy field behind the stable. "There's so many dead Guardians there."
She wouldn't have known what they were, if not for the stable's employees, and if Link's map hadn't said that fortified wall- or formerly fortified, it was more crumbling now -was Fort Hateno, she wouldn't know what anything there was.
As it was, she wished she didn't know either of those facts. She remembered what Link had said about where the Hylian Champion and the princess had gotten chased down to, and what happened to the Hylian Champion there.
That field was where Link had died.
She looked back down at her food, focusing on keeping the sinking feeling that thought put in her stomach from getting a grip and making that food unappealing.
The thought persisted, even after she got her stomach to unclench and allow food in without protest, and she sighed, glancing back at the field of dead Guardians. "I guess that explains his scars," she said softly. "He said he didn't remember where he got them. I wonder if that was true. Or if he remembers it now, or just knows it from being told."
