"Guilty," Link said with a look that was not at all repentant of anything. "Ganon's power was starting to get out of hand, and the monsters and their populations respond to evil power. They're pretty much custom made for him and vice versa."
He looked back towards the back of the building again, wondering when Zelda was going to find that damn bag of clothes and get out there before Seldon found a way of wrangling a history lesson out of him. Link enjoyed history and had considered retiring from the knighthood after the Calamity to go into academia, until his sister got hit by that fever and he changed course to staying in the knighthood in her stead, but the last time he'd done any sort of retelling an old history story had been before that fever, as far as he could remember. His skills were rusty at best, and while he might've been happy to blow the dust off of them at one point, with how many years by his reckoning it'd been since he lost Marin, the amnesia had made all those memories nice and fresh again, which just made his heart sting at the idea of picking that old hobby up without his sister to share it with.
Yeah, Zelda, any time you want to come rescue your poor knight who just accidentally dropped himself into an uncomfortable situation, that'd be great.
