Link crossed his arms, wondering when she was going to tell him it was safe to look. He knew it probably was, but he wasn't going to take the chance that she still had something personal sitting out in plain view and turn around before being told it was okay.
He wondered if she knew he was waiting on her for that. He decided that for the moment, he was happier that he could have an easy reason for not looking at her. Looking at people when Serious Discussions came up wasn't his favorite thing to do.
But her wording made it obvious she'd missed his purposely strange wording about Mipha 'offering' the armor to him, and not just giving it to him. Which made him internally swear, but at least she'd accidentally given him another route to take, rather than forcing him to strong-arm the topic back around.
"It's not that kind of armor," he said. "Its defensive properties are seriously lacking, actually. It's more symbolic than functional beyond what its enchantment does. And I'm just as glad that she didn't have a chance to offer it before the Calamity, because it would've caused problems with our friendship that I wouldn't have wanted things to end on."
Another half-turn of his head. "I know there were a lot of things I didn't tell you back then, and some of them, I'll probably never get to, because I don't think my memory's ever going to fully come back, but since I have a feeling Dorephan or Sidon might say something, or Goddess forbid Muzu finds a reason to bring it up, I'm going to say this now, so you don't think I was withholding something as important as this. The Zora Armor is special because it has a couple of her scales sewn into some of the adornments. It's a tradition for Zora princesses to make a piece of armor like that as an engagement ring to propose with. I had no idea she'd even have reason to make it, she never said anything. Not explicitly, anyway. And if she hinted at it, I managed to miss it. I'm not sure what I said or did that made her think it was a good idea, or why Dorephan would think she wouldn't get turned down, but whatever it was, it was accidental, and I'd undo it if I could, because it obviously gave her the wrong impression."
The floor in front of him became interesting again as he sighed wearily. "So if they bring it up, please don't say anything. I don't want to ruin their memory of Mipha and potentially sour friendships by correcting them, until I figure out a good way to do it at more appropriate time."
