Bolson found the queen and her smile to be charming, to utterly no surprise on his part. He returned her smile in kind. "I agree. Nature may sometimes be tempramental, but when she is in a good mood, I find her to be one of the loveliest ladies one may ever know."
He looked at Karson. "Karson, are you prepared to dazzle us with your thoughts?"
Karson was still scratching his cheek, face screwed up into one of intense concentration, coupled with some confusion and a small handful of worry, and walking up and down the stairs at a slow and considering space.
"Well," he reluctantly said. "It wouldn't be impossible, but we'd have to cut the width of the stairs in half, if we didn't want to take any floor space from the bedrooms. I don't think that'd be a good idea. I know most furniture wouldn't make it up stairs that narrow, especially not at a spiral."
He looked over at the others. "But we could make it work if we compromised a little on taking up bedroom floor space. Instead of cutting into it enough for an entire second sent of stairs, we could cut in half that distance, and reduce the width of the stairs by about 25% instead of a full half. That should leave them wide enough to get furniture moved up, even if the furniture needs a little work once it's upstairs to put it together completely to do it."
He wrinkled his nose in an apologetic frown. "I'll be honest, I've never worked with spiral staircases before, so those numbers are approximate. I'll know better once I start working how much square footage I have to take from the bedrooms. It might be a little more than I'm estimating right now. But it'd be less than if we put in a second set in this style."
