Zelda hadn't been the one to wake him; the dust that had built up under the stairs over the last two months he'd owned the place (what, you thought he took any of the time he was there to clean? the kingdom needed saving, housework beyond cleaning up after cooking wasn't exactly important) decided that he'd let it go long enough and woke him up to complain.
Thus, the cough and the sneeze. Inhaling dust was a good way to have both happen.
Putting up that blanket was a good idea for privacy, not so much for not further trapping dust (and were those cobwebs? how did he not see that last night?) and making it an irritant.
Well, it was a busy day, and he was on his way up to wakefulness from a deeper sleep anyway. Time to get up.
Once awake and the offending dust cleared from his airways and eyes, he could hear the sounds of Zelda moving around upstairs, very quietly. Enough to impress him; it usually took a lot practice to be that quiet. He wasn't sure when she would've had that sort of practice and training.
Better get to the washroom before she got up. He wasn't fond of the idea of wandering around her in just nightclothes. Or around anyone, really, but especially not her. That just wasn't comfortable.
He didn't take long in the washroom, knew she probably needed to take her own turn in there, but he spent the time mentally going through a checklist of what was going on that day.
-Introduce Bolson and Karson to Zelda and stand back to see what sort of reactions that got out of all parties.
-Try to explain what they wanted done with the house that Link just was having trouble picturing, but understood enough to know that what Zelda wanted would probably work, or should in principle.
-Potentially argue with Bolson if he didn't like the idea for aesthetic reasons as opposed to legitimate concerns about the structural integrity of the house.
-Chase said construction workers off to go work in their sketchbooks or whatever Bolson used to design things so Zelda's ladies could come over and get a beauty lesson (that sounded fun).
-Probably squeeze a light lunch in there somewhere; Dorephan had offered an early dinner, but breakfast wasn't exactly late enough in the day to be brunch, something was going to be needed in between there, he'd put his damn foot down on it.
-Visit the Zora royals and figure out what the hell was going on with Ruta.
He wasn't sure what part of any of that sounded the least fun. It was probably going to be a contest between giving makeup lessons and visiting the Zora royals. They were his friends, he'd known Dorephan since he was so young that if his memories hadn't been wiped by the Shrine of Resurrection, he would've never not known him. And he liked Sidon; he reminded Link of Mipha in ways that most people would miss, because of how different the siblings were on the surface.
But even though this wasn't a formal diplomatic meeting, Zelda going to meet with the leaders of one of the other Hyrulean tribes turned this from a simple visit with friends into something a bit more impersonal, and into the realm of politics, something he had no interest in, nor any skill in.
Add in troubleshooting tech that had enamored Zelda since she was little, to the point that she might try to explain something, and none of this visit sounded very fun. He was as bad with understanding technology as he was trying to navigate diplomacy.
In retrospect, he probably shouldn't have stayed up late last night. Lesson learned.
Despite the long and wandering path his thoughts were traveling, he really didn't take long, emerging about five minutes later dressed for most of the day. He'd have to change before they went to Zora's Domain, just to get them over the water around the Ne'ez Yohma Shrine, but the waterproof clothes weren't comfortable for just wandering around. So tunic and pants it was.
"You look tired," he said, studying Zelda's face as he headed right towards the kamado. "Go clean up, I'll make breakfast."
