Link tilted his head back to look at the ceiling, a habit he was noticing he had that tended to go along with the folded-hands-on-the-back-of-his-neck thing, although where it'd come from or why he did it, he didn't know. But it helped him sort out what part to respond to first.
"Corruption, greed, and the weird belief that prudishness gives a higher moral ground than the unwashed masses," he said, deciding to give some of his attention back to his food. "There were a lot of reasons I didn't say half of what I was thinking back then, and not knowing what was and wasn't going to get me in trouble was one of them. I'd rather not have to worry about scandalizing the wrong person when I'm speaking to fellow adults."
He gave her a wearily dry look, his fork half-lifted to take a bite. "And yes, I will get it through my head that that includes you now. Eventually."
