"Thank you," he said, giving her a smile, then sighed as he went back to cooking. "We might not be," he agreed. "But unless our seal on Ganon breaks somehow, Sidon's not going to be at any risk. And I don't think that's going to happen. He'd just be learning how to run Ruta, and passing the information along to the next generation, just the same as the women in your family between repeats of the cycle."
Zelda wouldn't have seen it, not with his back to her, but Link's next words brought a bit of a sad smile to his face. "And quite frankly, he'd feel like he was failing Mipha if he didn't do his part to make sure that some Zora royal down the line knew how to operate Ruta safely when she was actually called into action."
He gave her another look over his shoulder. "So don't worry, that guess being right and him being the next one that Ruta will respond to would make him happier than the alternative."
