Ivee hadn't known Link in the days leading up to the Calamity, she'd only known a fairly easy-going, incredibly snarky young man who regularly raided the store's inventory and sometimes stuck around to trade barbs with her father and listen in on town going-ons.
(She could've used the word 'gossip' there, it wouldn't have been entirely inaccurate, but given that she worked right in earshot of actual gossips, she didn't like assigning that word to a very valid conversation about what was going on in town.)
So the idea of him not being a friendly ball of sunshine... wasn't a huge shock, he'd said enough to convince her that he wouldn't waste time being nice to people who pushed his buttons, whatever those buttons were. She couldn't personally picture him being like that, but she knew she only saw him when he was in town and sticking around longer than to stock up for life on the road, so she wasn't getting a huge glimpse.
It wasn't something she was going to ask about, he had the subject elsewhere, and she assumed that the queen probably knew what he was talking about, and she could get filled in later. So she chose not to comment on that part.
"Well, thank the goddess that men used to be smarter," she said, then raised her eyebrows. "But this guy must be a real piece of work if you're demanding thanks for keeping him occupied."
