Sophie looked at the number of dresses, then at the one dress on the body form that already had pins in it to guide her work on alterations, thinking. "Assuming the work needed is similar on all of them, just a bit shy of five hundred," she said.
She looked at the queen, a bit wide-eyed. "I can go lower though, if you think it's needed. The off-the-rack stuff, if alterations aren't needed, I charge without much consideration towards how long they take. They're standard fare, it doesn't make much sense to me to charge per hour worked on them, just for the cost of supplies and a little extra so we make a profit. But alterations take up extra time, and since there's not usually much extra fabric required, if any at all, I have to go by labor hours."
