Some of that might stem from the fact so many marriages were arranged and viewed as business agreements, and once married, it was expected to some degree that people would seek pleasure outside the marriage bed with lovers of their own choosing. I know the maids talked about some of the noblemen who were a bit... the word they used was 'handsy', with the servants."
She shook her head. "Some of that might connect with the lack of a queen, as Link, who's studied history, said that whenever Hyrule is left without a strong woman on the throne, it suffers. My mother died when I was six. Hyrule was already becoming very patriarchal by the time the Calamity hit, and that seems to be related."
