That tends to happen with those that are pure at heart. It takes a lot more to break them down than it does most people. Having a firm sense of self doesn't hurt.

Huh. Now that begs even more questions. A lot of them.

Again, sounds about right.

I don't know if they're pure. I'm not sure I really buy into the idea of pure hearts and impure. But they're good people and they know who they are and hold on to that. So that's a good thing.

It's pretty interesting. There's double sets of Avengers too - but from what I can tell, your world has a lot more of them. There's two Steve Rogers running around that I've seen.

There have been roughly 100 members of the main Avengers team over the course of its existence, and that's not even counting its multiple splinter groups. There is, of course, a large amount of crossover insofar as the teams are concerned.

Clint, Nat, Jess, and Steve. That's four people so far. Anyone else that you've seen a duplicate of? Or anyone on my team? Or anyone else of note?

Yeah. There's like 8 or so in our world. They make enough mess for 100 though.

There's a couple of Clints I think. Plus there's a guy who looks just like OUR Hawkeye, but isn't him. Two Widows. Daisy has a teenage double. There's two Barnes.

There's a lot of people of note, depending on how you want to define noteworthy. Personally, I was thrown by the My Little Pony.

Wow. So you're still in phase one, basically? Sorting out the kinks?

That would be my Daisy. Though, she's less of a teenager now... so maybe she's out of step? I really should check and see if I'm answering to Director Johnson.

...which one?

More flaming out. But I never had much of a hand in that end of things. That was Fury and Coulson, and then Hill.

Maybe, I haven't spoken to her much. But it would make sense, the timelines seem to be pretty jagged.

You would know the difference? Pinkie Pie, I think.

Wait. Really? Your timeline is way off, then. Our Avengers have been operating since before I was even born.

Why wouldn't I know the difference? It was pretty pervasive in pop culture for awhile.

Cap was born long before any of us, and Thor apparently lives for thousands of years. But the Avengers didn't start until a couple of years ago, and they're already imploding.

I could not tell you the name of any one pony until one came here.

No, I'm sorry. It's funny.

They do that. Implosions happen pretty regularly. Every five years, at least. Sometimes more frequently. I think there was a period there for awhile where everything was imploding every five months.

Pinkie Pie, Twilight Sparkle, Apple Jack, and Fluttershy are the main ones. I could name more from the eighties cartoon, if I'm being honest, but that's mostly from babysitting sessions.

Hey. A guy has to have hobbies.

Well there's a whole thing raging about regulation and Sovokia and collateral damage, and only half of them would sign the oversight accords. Then they fought about it. I'm assuming Romanoff and Barton were more sensible about it and it was probably mostly the superpowered people and the people in metal suits making it dramatic.

I need to know if our Coulson knows this and find a way to tell everyone despite never being able to speak to them again.

Do you know any songs? They sing songs, don't they? If I say you drink free will you sing us songs?

Oversight. Yeah. We already did that one, too. It was more than a bit of a disaster. Not that I think anyone learned from it since we keep repeating the same sort of mistakes.

If he's anything like me, there's probably hundreds of things he knows that he hasn't bothered to tell anyone.

My knowledge doesn't extend quite that far. I do know quite a few Disney scores, though, that I would be happy to share.

That part's pretty universal. A closed loop of the same mistakes in new ways, with higher stakes.

Probably. I'm not sure how much overlap there is. I think he may have a few years on you.

Come sit down next to me and drink and tell me about A Whole New World.

And even less rational reactions because of feeling the need to defend your position.

How many years?

Just tell me where to be. We can compare team notes between serenades.

And justify your mistakes so you can live with them.

I'd have to take a guess at your age to say that one, and that never ends well for anyone who tries. Our Coulson's tipped over fifty though.

Pour Judgment. I'll be the tall blond at the bar getting you free drinks from the short, good looking guy behind the bar.

Rationalization, compartmentalization, and plausible deniability, the agent's best friends.

Quite a few years, then. My age is a subject of pretty heated debates. Nick's really the only one who knows for sure, and that's because we've known each other longer than SHIELD's been in the picture.

I'll be there shortly.

Along with hair dye and language skills. Which our SHIELD is lax about teaching, that last one.

So what you're saying is there have to be a lot of free drinks before I find out, basically?

See you there.

Been running up against translation issues, huh?

We'll see how things go. I might end up feeling generous and let you off the hook early.

Mostly the kind where I'm the only one who can do the job most of the time. Or I was. I like to think they're all going to be frantically quizzing each other without me. But that might just be that I like the idea of having been vital. I'm sentimental.

I'll have the shots lined up in case.

I guess someone's just going to how to give everyone language crash courses. Or drop them into territories and let full immersion do its thing. Not that I can really talk. My language skills aren't great.

That sounds like a plan.
