I think you were probably mine.

But it was awful. They erased Bahrain for May, and that little girl killed hundreds of people. And HYDRA used that to take power and turn people against Inhumans. And May was so much colder and more violent because she blamed herself for something a lot bigger than killing a little girl. Fitz's biggest regret was his dad never being around, but with his dad in his life, influencing him, he was an honest-to-god psycho. He tortured people. He experimented on Inhumans. It was horrible.

That... sounds exactly like something HYDRA would do, take the opportunity of unease and uncertainty to insert themselves as the new status quo, offer up the notion of protection and security as a means to embedded themselves into the landscape. They take over SHIELD's resources. In a couple of years, they're a monolith that's impossible to escape.

That I can understand, at least. Most people don't realize how much one person can change things.

I still had no idea I was an inhuman. I didn't have my powers. I was still going by Skye. Just...stuck working for HYDRA.

I didn't have my parents back. I didn't have Lincoln back.

I had you.

I had a you who was good and wanted to help people and never betrayed me or broke my heart.

Because I do regret that. I regret that you weren't who I thought you were. I regret that you kept making terrible choices. And I regret that we never helped you. That we never did enough to make you see you had other options. That we couldn't fix things. That we weren't enough. That you kept going down that horrible path until you died.

So don't tell me what I regret.
