But at least if you're always ready it means less damage is done in the long run because you can act faster. At least that's the theory.

Theory never seems to work the same in practice as it does on paper. Still. If everything works out for the best, I can't complain.

You're right it doesn't. But being at least partly prepared is better than being completely unprepared.
