Oh the things he found himself doing for the people he actually deemed worthy of caring about. Leonard wasn't even really an animal person. Growing up there hadn't been any place for pets in the Snart household. Considering how Lewis treated his own kids he shuddered to think how he would have treated any kind of animal. So Len had never really done pets. Hadn't interested him. Not living a life frome place to place and safe house to safe house. He wasn't unecessarily cruel to people and the same applied to animals. Putting them in that sort of environment just wouldn't have been fair.
But things were different here in this place outside of time and space and whatever else. After the last few weeks, with Barry in the hospital and his quick (and yet somehow agonizingly slow) recovery, even he needed something uplifting. The last few conversations with Mick had left him inspired and while he knew Mick had people in his life to serve as distractions, a little extra help couldn't hurt right? Something else to come home to. Mick could use that kind of focus on something outside of himself. And despite what his partner liked to claim, Len was fully aware of Mick's capacity for affection, doting, and the like. Mick Rory might have been a hard ass but he'd always been a sucker for animals and Len hadn't missed out on that over the years. Years of hard knocks and even Chronos hadn't changed that part of him, of that Len was sure.
Which was why he found himself letting himself into Mick's apartment while he was out. He didn't doubt Mick would give him a key if asked but where was the fun in that? Never hurt to practice his lock picking skills. Sometimes he even broke into the larger apartment he shared with Barry and Iris or the separate one he kept for himself if and when he did need the time to himself. It was something to keep his skills sharp. Not that he was being very sneaky anyway. If Mick had been home he would have known right away. Mostly because of the soft noises coming every so often from the front pocket of his coat which was currently home to a small, mewling, grey and white kitten.
The thing was just old enough to qualify for adoption but he'd known instantly it ought to be the one for Mick. The coloring made it look like the thing had been rolling around in ash. Barry had agreed, naturally. Though he did slightly regret inviting the speedster along since they hadn't left the shelter empty handed either. Such was life. But the little kitten was all for Mick.
He made himself at home on the couch, flicked on the television and let the cat out of his pocket to roam at it's leisure. Mostly that entailed a brief exploration of the couch with constant retreats back to Leonard and his lap. He texted Mick almost immediately once he'd sat down, playing coy about it mostly because he knew it would get the other man back to his apartment sooner rather than later.
