To our neighbors on the second floor: you have my sincere apologies in regards to the noise. I am endeavoring to find the silencing ward to set over the room, but it has been slow going, as you may imagine.

[Charles]

Do you recall what book held the soundproofing? I believed it was in one of the Stratford notebooks, but I can't seem to locate it.

[Wally Clark]
Monty wished me to pass on his regards, and to let you know he's feeling a bit under the weather and has taken to his room for the time being.

[Bellara]
How have things been with you, friend? Our accidental adoption has rather distracted me of late, but also made the matter of simulating night far more pressing, on a personal level. I have been able to trick the little menace with a thick blanket so far, but I worry we're approaching the day she sees through the ruse.

I assure you, I would do far, far worse in the service of your comfort. Bodily horror is not an unfamiliar sight.

If you'd like one more visit before your debut, I would be happy to stop by.

That's really sweet of you. You took the whole 'bones coming out' thing pretty well.

That would be nice, yes. Please.

I'm going to have to figure out shirts. I can't wear anything with a back fit obvious reasons but that doesn't mean I should be walking around with my nipples out.

At the risk of being crass, they weren't my bones, which is a very nice change of pace.

Of course, Monty. Would you like to try a visit with Calliope or should I settle her off in the room?

I'm certain there is some option that exists that would suit you. The main styles that come to mind immediately are typically dresses, but perhaps something could be altered.

Of course. Oh, Edwin.

It would be nice to see Calliope. Maybe she won't mind getting her beak into some of these feathers.

I mean, I think I could pull off something daring and backless but it's the Green, not the red carpet. But you're right, probably I can alter something.

It's alright, dear. It does make it far easier to make sure your spine and shoulders stay in alignment while you're getting used to the weight.

You make an excellent point. We can be along shortly, then.

I didn't mean to [...] I'm certain of you wished to wear a dress, it would be no problem. But the styles I can think of that would leave the shoulder blades open are all [...] I believe the term is halter tops?

It does feel like a lot more weight than it did when I was a bird, even comparatively. I guess I technically have two sets of ulnas though, so that's kind of cool. And two humeruses. Funniest guy on campus.

Oh, I know I could. Not really my taste though. Actually, yeah, halter tops would kind of work. Definitely can't fill those out in the traditional way but they'll cover up what I need to cover up. Maybe I'll see if the library has any sewing books, I can figure out how to alter things.

That pun was absolutely terrible, I'll have you know. I'm disappointed in myself for laughing.

That may also be something you could seek assistance with? Someone here is bound to know how to sew, at least enough to make a few tops that would fit you.

Before I forget, have you eaten? I need to stop by the kitchens to see if I can find Calliope some food.

I'm disappointed in myself for making it. Birds of a feather, huh, Edwin?

Yeah, maybe I'll see if we have any tailors.

I don't remember if I ate yesterday, actually. I think I did. I definitely haven't today. It's all been kind of a blur of... you know. Wings.

I don't think I would have near the grace you do to pull off the look.

At the risk of leaning into a stereotype, Lucy may be able to assist? I'm not sure if mending was still taught in schools at her time, or in her world. I am not a lost cause, but I don't know that I could style something befitting of you.

I will see what I can gather from the kitchen before George chases me away due to the nugget, then.

I think you'd be fetching.

I was thinking of her. Maybe she will, I'll check with her. Someone around here's got to know their way around a needle and thread.

I hope he doesn't try to ban me from the kitchen for the wings. I'll promise not to drop any feathers in anything!

Well, if it is something happening around this place, perhaps we'll see.

And as someone pointed out to me before, there seems to be a selection of pieces-- and fabric-- in the theatre department. If you don't wish to sacrifice the clothes you have currently.

Does he have the authority, do you think? It is still a communal space.

I don't know if I can deal with everybody copying me with the wing thing.

That's such a good idea. Oh, and they probably have sewing machines, if they're doing costumes.

I don't know but I'm afraid to challenge him, to be honest. He's a little bit intense.

It is quite the signature look.

They should indeed. Maybe one of the more mechanically minded among us could get one working.

Intense, certainly, but not unreasonable. And rather easy to sway, as you're friends with his loves. Or that has been my experience, at least.

It's very me.

Hopefully! Some strapping young man who knows what to do with a screwdriver. Or probably Holtz.

I'm going to do so well if that's true. I'm friends with so many people's loves.

I don't know a Holtz, but I take it they are not a strapping young man?

I'm not sure that others may be as convincing for George, but I suppose there's no harm in trying. But it's good that you're making friends.

That lady who fiddles with things. Very interesting woman.

All kinds of friends!
