Who: Theodore and Andromeda Where: in Muggle London When: Wednesday, December 26th, 1976, sometime in the evening What: surrounded by the family during the holidays, Andromeda seeks to regain her sanity the only way a teenaged girl knows how...by running away. Rating: G-PG at most
For a good part of that evening, Andromeda sat on the edge of her bed, realising just how crazy it all was. Here she was, dressed in a pair of jeans and a sweater she had bought with her own money, clothing she had stealthily hidden from the prying eyes of her family. They wouldn't look too favourably on her owning Muggle clothing, after all. Yet here she was, dressed up like any Muggle would be, looking at a large bag she had packed with a few belongings.
For those of you who haven't guessed by now, Andromeda was in the process of running away.
"This is crazy," she said to herself in a near whisper, although desperate times call for desperate measures. And Andromeda was on her last nerve. Spending time with her family was becoming increasingly harder as the years passed on by, and this year was no exception. She was tired of constantly being on her guard, and only yearned for the chance to simply be herself, and be accepted for who she was.
She had to do this. Picking up her bag, she stepped quietly out of her room and crept her way down the stairs. Some distance away, she could hear her parents talking from somewhere in the house, and the girl did not even risk breathing as she made the seemingly endless trek to the front door. When her hand rested on the doorknob, however, Andromeda did not waste any time, and all but bolted outside.
The cold chill of winter shocked her as she ran down the sidewalk, although the girl didn't care. She was free! Gleefully laughing, she ran off quickly without even a glance back, her mind swimming with thoughts. She could get a job somewhere, earn her keep, get a place of her own, establish her own life and no longer have to worry about pleasing anyone. Her life would finally have some direction...which is more than she could say for herself now.
Literally.
Looking around, the girl came to realise that she hadn't a clue where she and gone and run off to. Sure there were people all around her. Shop windows were lit and all. It wasn't like she was completely alone. All the same, she was lost. Frowning a bit, the girl began to work her way around the crowded sidewalks, trying to gain her bearings.
