Alecto and Amycus had gotten an urgent owl from their mother, Valeria, to come home. Packing up their belongings, they hurried back, thinking of all the possible bad things that could have happened. When they got there, however, Valeria told them that there was an important event they needed to attend as an entire family on the 27th. Unable to argue, out of fear of Titus and his reactions, Alecto grudgingly walked up to her room and put away her things.
Now, here the four of them were, walking up to a house that she didn't recognize. She turned to look at Amycus, but his face looked just as puzzled as hers was. "Mum, where are we?"
Valeria turned to her daughter and smiled knowingly. "Don't worry. You won't be disappointed." She reached forward to knock on the door. "It's a surprise."
Again, Alecto turned to her brother even more confused. Why they had to get so dressed up for a simple visit to an old house? Even Titus seemed to be happy. What on earth was going on?
