He had been minding his own business. He knew he and Max tended to butt heads more often than not and without the constant distraction of taking care of other transgenics or fighting off White or whatever, he figured their bickering would only worsen. And he kinda liked Max... sort of. Ish. And he didn't want to ruin that. He definitely didn't want to fight her and so he was doing his own thing for the most part. Plus, he was his own man, he could totally do whatever he wanted, whenever he wanted, and she wasn't the boss of him.
But he couldn't get her out of his head today. It was unnerving, actually. Because even as he continued to trek into the jungle, Max continued to take up every single thought he had. She was racing through his mind and she wouldn't get the hell out. So he pushed even further into the forest because, to begin with, there was only one reason he could come up with for why he was so completely distracted by the thought of her. Heat. Probably one of the nastiest side-effects of being transgenic was the fact that every so often, they were absolutely enslaved by their baser, more animalistic DNA.
If Max had gone into heat, he needed to avoid her like the plague. He knew how it affected transgenics - both male and female - and if she was pumping out pheromones and prowling around for a male, Alec wasn't sure he'd be able to shake her if she came at him. And the last thing he needed was some DNA-driven hook up to lead directly to his murder at Max's hands. But when she popped up on the network, looking for him, Alec hadn't been able to help himself. At least he managed to make certain it wasn't heat. Maybe he was just a masochist.
But she was looking for just him. Not any guy. And she wasn't even angry. And how was he supposed to resist when every single second she had been on his mind all day? He craved her company more than he ever thought he'd want to be around anyone. Ever. So when she wanted him to come get her, Alec didn't hesitate. There was no way he'd let that opportunity pass him by. He needed to get to her. Fast. She was in the city and so, without a second thought, Alec headed that way, moving so quickly he was nothing more than a blur as he weaved through the streets. Maybe it was just how alike they were or maybe it was just this overwhelming need that he couldn't shake, but the first place he looked was the first place they met. And there she was.
Alec appeared before Max without any greeting, coming to a complete stop in front of her. His heart was pounding, but not from the exertion of making his way to her as quickly as possible. It was just from the mere sight of her. His green eyes swept over her body hungrily, and he didn't even try to hide the intense gaze. He stepped closer, into her personal space, "Hey," he breathed out; still cautious enough to avoid just grabbing hold of her, despite how his entire body screamed at him to do it. Nothing was a bigger buzz kill than a punch to the face, after all.
