MANDIE + MARCUS
Mandie was all about survival. It was in her blood. Her great-grandparents had practically drilled it into her brain. How to take care of herself in case something happened. If she ever got lost or taken. Thinking back on it, she wondered why they had been so paranoid. The world hadn't ended. Yet. She had only been three at the time that the first park had come and failed. Perhaps her interest in that had them worried.
Of course, it wasn't like she had been planning on leaving Georgia. This was the first time she had ever left the country. Go figure that it would turn out to be such a fucking disaster.
She rummaged blindly inside her suitcase until she felt a bottle of water and one granola bar. There hadn't been time to fry the fish she had caught so technically, she hadn't eaten since before they had crashed which was ... many hours. They were going to need food to stay alive. Zipping her suitcase shut again, she handed him the granola bar and then opened the water for herself first. She drowned nearly half of it before handing it over to him.
"You can't save everybody." Mandie commented, knowing full well how guilty the other man might be feeling. As a man of the law, it was his duty to protect. Having this out of his control, that had to be hard for him. "Once the Spinosaurus leaves, and that might be awhile, we can go looking for the others. Have you ever slept in a tree before?"
