WHO: Hannah Abbott and Neville Longbottom
WHAT: Valentine's day - Accomplishment
WHEN: (forward dated to early morning) February 14th
WHERE: Hannah's flat
RATING: R

Cooking a meal wasn't a new accomplishment for Hannah. Hannah was rather good when it came to cooking and baking. She often took the somewhat lazy way out and got something from the kitchens rather than making it herself, but that was because she knew the Leaky made things in a healthy manner. It made her life as a single mother just a little bit more easy. That, for Valentine's day, didn't work for her.

Especially since she had a fiancee who she had sniffled at to stay over the night before. Staying snuggled up with Neville in her bed was incredibly comfortable and safe feeling. At the same time, she had a plan. Early morning, she slipped out of the bed. It wasn't uncommon for her to do if Lucy made a noise or sounded fussy over the monitor. This time, there hadn't been any fussing.

Hannah snuck into the kitchen, monitor in hand, and started cooking. She made a full spread - heart shaped pancakes, bacon, eggs, toast with marmalade, and tea. She brought it back into her bedroom on a tray. She sat it down next to the bed and moved to wake Neville up. "Happy Valentine's!" She wanted to see his face and feel a certain sense of accomplishment for coming up with something - even if it was a bit traditional and cliche.

"I have a giant cookie-cutter like mold. I can put it in the pan, pour it in, and then lift it out when I need to flip it and it's got the basic shape. I have a butterfly and a mitten, too. It's a bit silly, but I figure Lucy will get it eventually and... it's something fun." Hannah admitted, a bit sheepish at her "cheat" and small collection.

"I figured a heart was better than a butterfly, though."

"It's more festive," he said. He took a bite of his bacon, pleased to find that it was the right balance of crispy and chewy. He didn't like it brittle, but he liked a good crunch.

"This is perfect."

"I was aiming for perfect." Hannah admitted with a small smirk, unable to help but feel the sense of accomplishment coming back. Still, she had a rather instinctual desire to add something.

"Not that every morning is like this, but - I'd be quite happy to cook you breakfast more often if you stayed over more often?"

"I'd like that," he said. Neville had his plants. The Leaky Cauldron wasn't really a great place to grow plants, but he did like to be here. He was lonely at home.

"I can visit as much as you like," he said, "Granted I have time to water my plants. But seeing as I don't have a job, now, that's easy."

Hannah stretched over and gave him a peck on the cheek before going about eating the piece of toast she had taken. She never thought she'd be quite so happy as to hear a bloke say "as I don't have a job" in relation to her. "I'd even clear some closet or drawer space, if you wanted to have some things here?"

She wasn't really pushing him to move in and she didn't intend to, especially since they weren't even set on a date to marry yet. Still, she wanted him around. She wanted him to feel comfortable around. Part of her really did think that their engagement would be as long as it took for the pair to get to know each other to a comfortable level. Granted, most couples jumped in much earlier than that, but Hannah wanted to try and make everything extra smooth for them.

Neville was ready to commit to a lifetime with Hannah, but he needed to be eased into the physical part of the relationship. His friends would have been confused to hear that they were engaged and he was still a virgin. Neville was nervous about the whole thing and hearing the boasts of other men in the office didn't help ease the anxiety.

But living with her? Neville wanted to be around as much as possible. Keeping clothes here and going home only to water plants sounded like a great idea.

"Maybe I ought to buy an extra toothbrush, then, so mine doesn't have to come back and forth."

"That could work rather well. It isn't as if you wouldn't have to buy a new toothbrush anyhow eventually, so getting one new one would be less of a hassle than moving it with you." Hannah was somewhat out of her league in deciding quite how to suggest moving in together and related items. She and Tyler had lived together for a bit when she was pregnant with Lucy, but that hadn't been questioned - it had been pure necessity so that someone could be there to help Hannah out and make sure nothing happened when she was on her own.

"If there's anything else you want to have here that would be Lucy-proof -" Meaning able to hurt Lucy or be broken by the young girl, "I wouldn't object -"

"I could bring a few things... Herbology texts. My comb. Uh... clothes." He didn't need much. Neville mostly grew plants, read about plants, and went to Martial Arts classes.

Neville thought of something. "What's on the roof here?"

Hannah had to pause at the question. She gave herself the excuse by taking an extra-large bite of toast and taking her time chewing it. "Um... snow? I don't really know. Most of the roof is angled -" Well, the front and back.

"- but part of it is flat, I think. Tom tends to clean it off with a good charm and that's usually that, but the angles give it that tiny rustic feel from front and back." No one ever seemed to think about the fact that the Leaky Cauldron was so large inside. Everyone assumed magic to be the cause, but truthfully a good deal of it was good strategic use of architecture. "I'm not quite sure how you get to the roof, though."

"Well, the fire escape might go up there," he said. He had a little experience with that route, having fought Tyler's killer out there. He figured it might go up to the roof. There had to be some way up there.

"What if I rented it? I could have a green house built on the top... of course we'd have to do muggle repelling charms so it looked like the rest of the building to the rest of London."

Hannah shrugged, not really wanting to give a terribly lot of thought to that detail. She had no interest in going up there and Lucy wouldn't be up on any sort of roof without a million charms being in place, so she still had no strong desire to figure it out. Still, his suggestion made sense and was a good one.

"That could work, if it's the right size - and if it can be closed off to everyone but you, me, or Lucy -" She didn't like the idea of someone breaking into Neville's greenhouse because it was at the somewhat popular location of the Leaky Cauldron.

"I mean... I'd like to live close to it. If I'm going to start growing for a living I need to be able to check in on the greenhouse a lot." He wasn't sure if asking her to move away from the Leaky was fair.

"No, no. That isn't it. I just - part of the appeal of the Leaky, at least to me, has been that there are so many people around that it's nearly impossible to have something happen and not have someone at arm's length to get help from. But at the same time, some people are... arses. And I wouldn't want your greenhouse to be broken into or ruined." Hannah quickly rambled off, trying to explain her mindset. "The Leaky isn't even just a store or the like around here. It's the main gateway between the Muggle and the Wizarding unless apparating straight in, so it's even busier than a lot of places. I just - don't want to have something happen -"

"I guess I'm just trying to figure out what'd be easier for all of us. I guess the ideal place for a greenhouse would be away from the smog and in a yard somewhere." He just wasn't sure Hannah and Lucy were ready to leave the proximity of the Leaky for a yard and a fence.

Hannah nodded at that and took another bite of her toast. The bite wasn't nearly as large as her last stalling bite had been, but for some reason it took her twice as long to chew without her even putting effort into it. It took her a few moments before she finally, flatly, answered, "It probably would."

They had time to work out those details. Neville didn't want it to turn into a mood-killer so he just ate his breakfast and dropped the subject.

What if it couldn't work out? What if he couldn't have his greenhouse and keep Hannah and Lucy happy? Neville was still suffering feelings of inadequacy, despite the fact that his ring on her finger was giving him a major confidence boost.

It took the time for Neville to eat the rest of his breakfast for Hannah to formulate her thoughts on the subject. It wasn't as if the thought hadn't crossed her mind, but -

"It scares me." Hannah finally admitted, quietly, out of nowhere in particular. "My Mum was killed just out and about. And then Tyler was killed and - I don't know. The Leaky... it's just the best I could figure out, but it isn't like I feel terribly safe here all the time. I never really planned for it to be forever, but I haven't really done the best job of planning for the future, either. I don't want to ruin your business though due to my fear or due to the potential for things getting broken here."

"Maybe we can look for some place together, some place you feel comfortable. And then we can get some of the guys from the Department to come help put up wards." Maybe Harry would be ready to talk to Neville again, by then.

Hannah slowly nodded, trying to keep an open mind about the idea. Part of what made her feel secure at the Leaky wasn't just the ready help nearby, but also the wards. She couldn't be clingy with people forever. She let Lucy go to her parents without much thought, though her parent's place was also warded... but what about later in Lucy's life? What about Hogwarts? What if Hannah and Neville decided, down the line, to have a child? She, Neville, and Lucy just had enough room in the small flat. Once Lucy was bigger, it would be a bit cramped. The idea of fitting a baby in there just didn't work.

"Okay. We can figure out exact finances, too, later once we start looking around." She put her empty tea cup on the tray and moved to stand and take the tray back into the kitchen. She would clean the dishes later. Now, she just wanted to flop back into bed and snuggle up to Neville - assuming Lucy wasn't up yet. She did make a point of peeking in the little girl's room. Hannah hadn't heard anything over the monitor, but she had left it in the bedroom while bringing the tray out. All it took was a minute or so, at times... but Lucy was still asleep.

Neville took the minute while Hannah cleaned up dishes and checked on Lucy to wander to the bathroom. He brushed his teeth quickly to be rid of morning breath and came back to the bed, arriving after Hannah's return. His shirt had stopped sticking to his chest as the sweat had dried and he rubbed his belly through the cotton.

"Any plans today?" he asked. "What're you working?"

"Single mum. Always working." Hannah teased, though it was obvious from her tone that she didn't really mean it - even if it was somewhat true.

"I did a bunch of the prep. work and organization, so unless someone owls in sick, I'm not working." Actually, Hannah had done all of the prep. work. Every last theme related meal had been recipes she had found or approved of from the kitchen staff. Related decorations - though there were far less than there had been at Christmas - had been Hannah's doing. "Surprisingly, most of the staff is single. I kind of think they want to work so they can not focus on celebrating love and the like."

"So we could lay in bed all day and do nothing," he said with a smile. Neville climbed in to curl up next to her. He pressed a kiss to her forehead. All day lazing around with Hannah sounded like a dream, "Or at least for a while until Lucy gets up."

Hannah immediately curled up next to him with a grin. The idea of curling up next to him and not doing anything for the day - or until Lucy woke up - was far too appealing. "I'm guessing we have at least an hour until she does, unless she decides to wake up really early."

"An hour, so I think that would be wasted sleeping," he said. The idea of curling up and sleeping in seemed nice, but not if they only had an hour. Neville would rather have a snog if they were on limited time.

Neville brushed her hair from her face and pressed a soft kiss to her lips.

It didn't take a genius to figure out what was a better use of limited time. With a small smirk forming on her face, she moved to slip her hands around him somewhat and moved to position herself a little less sunk into the pillow and a little more sat up to allow for snogging. "Well, we shouldn't waste time sleeping -"
